Default 350Z ECU in America

Hey guys. Anyone know if any company here in the States is making a ECU for the Z yet? I tried calling my cousin in Japan to see if he could find me one from a company there, but the main problem lies in the fuel grade difference. The ECU's that are premade over there are set to be used with a much higher octane and also, the immobilizer is suppsoedly set up differently. I know Jim Wolf makes ECU's for the 300ZX, but AAAAAAAAAAAANYONE know a company who's even developing one yet for a US z?

Jim wolf is working on cumputer, but i wouldn't expect to see it until the end of the year. The code is very hard to brake. It too a long time to break it for the 300zx.

thanks,
Greg

Definitly, the JWT chip not only makes power but is designed to pass smog. This chip is the no-brainer upgrade on 300ZX turbo and NA over on twinturbo.net and is a proven performer

Hey Krinkov, you keep abreast of these things. When can we expect a chip from JWT or Nismo. I thought I read that they may actually be working together. If that's so, he should have all the code, no?

well it seems its you that knows more than I I hadnt heard that about JWT/Nismo but if thats the case it still may take a while, the testing/tuning is what is time consuming, their not in the biz of putting out a chip that will harm your car(ala the infamous Honda Prelude with the MELTED piston with the JET chip )

How did you get this ECU by Technosquare?

Any claimed performance numbers?

Cost?

no no no. i took out my Track ECU and gave it to their US counterpart CEO to take back to japan...

they work with TECHTOM industries in japan, who will be 'taking' apart the ecu, d/l-in' the flash memory and see if they can do anything about cracking the ecu code..

if anything .. it will be advanced timing, slight change in the A/F ratio (need to dyno soon to get fuel readings) and probably raise the rev limiter if needed be.

but thats all speculation until they finally give me some info...

i'll keep everyone posted.

More importantly... how do they plan to keep your car running emissions legal?

if anything it will run the engine more efficiently!

i smoged my Chipped maxima just fine..

emissions problems would be if you changed the cats out.. not if you lean the car out..

The 350z ECU is not chipable. You can not chip and OBDII ECU. You can flash the memory on the ECU, but you can just swap in another chip. I will probably take the whole thing out anyways, but would be intresting to see the gains from it.

thanks,
Greg

Becareful when you write "you can not chip an OBD II ECU"

yes you can.... its just a matter of how you do it. d/l the flash rom and upload a new program, that you might call 'reprogramming' some might call it 'chipping'.. BMWs get their OBD II ecu tuned all the time..

regardless, you CAN alter the ECU in the Z.

when you say "take the whole thing out anyways" are you talking about removing the entire ECM? uh.. ok. im sure with the proper harnesses you could possibly run the car via laptop computer. but as far as that being the most efficent way to do it. i doubt it.

Actually, this could directly have an adverse effect on emmisions if not careful. Basically, the way they make power out of an ECU is to change the ignithion timing, well on the stock ECU, the timing is already so hot, it already retards on 91 octane gas, thats why SCC got more power out of it by running 94 octane. So just increasing the timing or leaning it out further will only make it retard more, any ecu upgrade will have to include some form of fuel enrichment if it plans to make any power on pump gas
