Default My oil change write up - synthetic

My previous oil change was with mobile 1 oil filter and 6 full qt of mobile 1 oil. I really didn't notice any difference in performance or how the car is running. oil temp seemed about the same. I did notice that the idle seemed more consistent with the less/absence of rmp fluctuating when warming up. I checked the dip stick at 5k and it was pretty clean. I ran total of about 6.5k. It was pretty dirty, then. I'm using k&n oilfilter and 5.5 of Royal Purple. Let's see how that goes.

6 quarts?!?!?!?

Try 5 (Nissan 350Z owner's manual, page 9-2)!

The manual says 5, but everytime I change mine it takes 5.5 quarts.

Putting in too much can cause windage problems -- and significant overheating.

I have gone with RP /K&N since my first fluid swap @ 3k mi. I cant say enough about it. Infact, I am planning to have the fluids sent for oil analysis when I get to 5k this time around. Its not so much the "dirt" in the fluid as much as the viscocity. Contamanents are going to be analyized to check for any breakdown or engine component grinding. I'd like to see what is going on at 15k mi with my VQ since I have only used RP.
