Default Little engine mods

Hi, I just ordered a nismo v.1 front bumper. And as you can see in my sig I have DC sports headers, Greddy exhaust, and an Injen intake set up as a pop charger..But would this be enough to beat a 93 Z28 wtih long tube headers? And what would you suggest as little engine mods that would guarantee to help opposed to what I've heard about motordyne plenum spacer actually hurting 1/4 mile times.

where did you hear that a plenum spacer would hurt 1/4 times? Ppl have reported a loss in power due to a plenum spacer + CAI...

20" wheels alone will slow you down.

Yeah I figured they would and I don't remember I just thought I heard something about them hurting your horsepower unless you got them tuned. I'll see if I can find where I read it. And how is the install on them? And, does anyone have anything to say about the 350z vs. the 93 z28?

The plenum spacer in some cases might hurt 1/4 because of lack of tune. I say you get a plenum or spacer which ever you choose, and then get a tune. With your current mods, plenum, the tune will top it off and you will see some decent power gain. Thats just what I would do short of saving the money for FI. Goodluck.

on the 287 engine if you have the mrev2 and spacer you may need a tune to get the max out of it but by no means would it hurt 1/4 times

http://www.motordyneengineering.com/dynos.asp

the spacer will give you more top end hp while the mrev2 more power across the curve, search this section there are lots of threads with dyno's of the mrev2 on the 287 motor. IMO i would go with the mrev2 and then add the spacer. This is what i did, i am installing the spacer this weekend.

Is an 03 the 287 motor? And, are there ever really any problems with the mrev2?

Yes, people who are incapable of following instructions tend to cause problems quite often... such as using foot-lbs torque wrench instead of inch-lbs.

The MREV2 is nothing more than a stock lower collector that has been modified to allow better airflow to all the cylinders. It's not like a turbo or an engine management system, it doesn't really change anything about the car except how well it can breathe.
