You might as well do an rb26 swap instead. But a couple have gone down this road (rb26), expect to spend much more than you thought. Most people will tell you that your better off building the vq35.

Just something I am kicking around. I have access to a motor/ trans with a shell I can pick up fairly cheap. Could probably get it done for around $30k

For $30K you could have a VQ with a TT kit making great power, and a more usable pwoerband than most any ST 2JZ you could build....seems stupid to me, but hey its your car.

30k? Give me your 30k and I'll build you a 900whp twin turbo VQ35 setup with a solid tranny, custom final drive gears in the dif, performance axles, slicks, rims, and a 8500rpm redline with 4-6kof useable power.

alright congrats, but I don't care what your fugging bro did in a S14. We're talking about a Z33 here. Two totally different vehicles. Do you want a pat on the back?

I'm working on swapping the VQ into my bro's NSX, can't wait. We're putting the engine upfront too, where it belongs.

Ok does everyone understand I am talking about $30k total for the project?
That is car, engine, tranny, electronics, tuning, labor....
I am not talking about $30k for the swap portion on top of the cars cost.

What wrong with wanting to swap a motor in thats cheaper to build, stronger, more reliable, and more proven. Has everyone forgotten how fragile the VQ is?

if you think you can do a 2jz swap into a 350z, including cost of buying the car itself, for less than 30k, you've got a reality shock coming for you.

if it was a cheap/easy swap, that would be one thing. It's neither of those.
