Question Replaced built engine with used stock one...warranty question

As some of you may know, I used to have a fully built motor with twin turbos and all the bells and whistles. I've since sold the built motor and turbos, and went back to 100% stock, with the exception of JWT cams and a powder-coated front timing cover. So, more like 95% stock

I believe that this used replacement engine I bought has oil consumption issues. My question is this: would I be able to get a new motor under warranty from Nissan if they determine that it does in fact have the infamous oil consumption problems? My car is an '03 with 40k miles.

There is a serial number stamped on the block, but it's not like right there on the top. You'd have to get under the car to find it.

Who's to say that this motor you bought isn't an engine already replaced by Nissan under warranty that found it's way to you.

Has your dealer ever seen your car with the turbo's?? If not....I would go in and have them check it out. Warranty should not be a problem.

They will never check serial numbers on the motor. As long as it is a same year I don't think they could tell. You may be in trouble if there is a suffix letter in the engine serial number that designates the year of the motor or a serial # sequence that may be specific to a batch of engines with an oil consumption problem.

Play dumb, play dumb, then play dumb some more.

"How did this engine get into your car?"
"I dunno, let me ask the guy that does my oil changes"

Well they wont really be able to tell you have cams, but with the front cover powder coated they will prolly consider the engine "cracked" open because you do have to remove the oil pan and break some factory seals from the bottom, and thus say they cant warranty the engine. Plus I am almost positive they do a numbers match on the engine before the do something as big as an engine replacement. The combination of things tells me you might be out of luck.

Hopefully the Nissan representatives who read all these sites won't flag all the Oklahoma dealers to be on the look out for your as described engine from your thousands of posts.....that stay forever in the archives.

The web is not a good place to discuss premeditation in the commission [even contemplated] of a crime. A crime only occurs if you are SUCESSFUL.

The TITLE Would get my attention

All dealers have a database then check to see if your motor was replaced under warranty prior.. and they can tell where the current motor came from

Why should it be a crime though? Swapping a motor from one chassis to another chassis does not make it start burning oil.

If nissan built a motor that is burning oil then they should replace it under warranty. Who cares what chassis it is sitting in?

That is why you play dumb. Not to commit a crime, but because it's the engine that THEY put out that is faulty.

If this is illegal, then that is a stupid law. Not trying to commit fraud, just trying to stop the oil burning.

I'll feel like a royal douche if they come and and say, "Sir, this motor was already replaced under warranty, how the hell did you end up with it?"
