Default Accidently reved redline while rolling

Did i do any damage to my engine? I was in neutral at about 5 miles per hour, some punk reved at me, so i reved back. As i reved, the rpm hit 6500rpm and the shift light came on for about one second then it went down. Any input would be appreciated.

P.S:I've never reved my car till redline before.

Nothings wrong with hitting redline. I do it all the time when I race. Even if you go past the rev limiter, I doubt you would do any damage unless you were in that zone for a while. Just to let you know, going past the rev limiter will cut off the fuel which will cause your car to be running lean.

Umm....if you hit the redline without any new ecu or piggyback that has disengaged the rev limiter....then in no way can you go "past" it unless you downshift to a wrong gear.

I bounce mine all the time and it's still runnin strong

EDIT: the point of a rev limiter is to prevent damage

You'll be fine.

You should only worry if:

A) You do that ALL The time. (More wear and tear)
B) You accidently downshift to a lower gear when trying to upshift and you hit like 9000RPM's.

The redline / rev limiter is set where it is for safety.

If 6600rpm was unsafe, the redline would have been set lower.
