So i think I've spun a rod bearing or at least this is what the dealership is telling me and they won't warrantee it because they said i shouldn't of been driving it the way i was. The car is an 06' with 8300 miles on it, I was wondering if anyone has heard of this problem or had this prolem themselves. All feedback is well appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

Have we left anything out? Isn't that what a warrantee is about? You must have pulled into the parking lot in first gear, WOT, and done doughnuts in the showroom. How exactly were you driving it?

 

I think that's B*******! Unless there is some difinitive evidence that ya beat the hell outta the car, how do they know?? Esp with so few miles on it! As long as you have the right viscosity oil in it, and haven't done any engine mods (that they can see at least) they shouldn't be able to say a thing! It should be able to handle anything you throw at it, it's a sports car for god sake! Thats why there's timing retard, an ecu., and a rev limiter. I'd say try another dealer. That's crap, sorry to hear!

 

OH HELL NO! You'll get that warrantee, just go to another dealership or somehow get a complaint filed with this dealership. They CAN NOT deny you warrantee because they think you should be driving in a different manner. And in some cases, you could have a fat 10' blower sticking out of your hood and sitting on some 335 rear tires and they'll still warranty you (My modded Evo was taken care of with no questions asked. Had nearly $15k in mods including internals). You just need to find the right dealership. I'm guessing you're stock, so don't worry, you'll get your car fixed. And free no less. I'm pissed for you man... I hate shops like that.

 

you know what, you should be able to do just that and still have it be warrantied!

 

Remember the dealer service department has nothing to do with the warranty, that is between you and Nissan.
They are however the eyes and ears of their largest paying customer Nissan Warranty.

Early Rod bearings fail from running low pressure or volume or degraded oil. When you brought it in was the oil full as required by warranty document?

I would call Nissan or, better yet, find a different dealer.

So you or someone committed a Federal Emission LAW tampering violation [by removing cats and modifying engine design] and are subject to an up to $10,000 fine.

I wouldn't expect a dealer to touch your car until it is brought back into Federal compliance.

You must use oem cats as high flows don't comply [illegal to replace oem cats with aftermarket while the Nissan emission warranty is in effect].

Also illegal to sell a emission tampered vehicle, future owners can force you to bring it into compliance after the sale..........AS IS doesn't apply to emission fraud. Signing title over and presenting an emission compliance document is PROOF you are committing fraud if the cats have been deleted or changed without EPA compliance replacement document.

Enforcement of above varies by States, however the Federal part applies to ALL.

 

Put the cats back on, take the car to a different dealer. For a dealer to try and deny a warranty repair based off of your rear tires is a bit rediculous.

BUT, keep in mind that they can report you to the EPA for tampering with the emissions system.

 

I understand the whole test pipe thing and that its illegal. But i have a few trailer's because i race stock cars and i told my dealer that i'd be bringing the car in because i don't want anyone else towing my car plus didn't want to pay for it. The dealership kept insisting they have their company come get it immediately so we could get it resolved quickly, all while i still wanted to bring it myself so i could change the cats back before. Well they end up coming to get the car because they told me it was free and that they sent a driver, and after they told me the claim was denied a few days later they also told me that i had to pay a towing bill because it wasn't covered under waranty.
