Mobil 1 always skirts around the actually question. When asking "Is mobile 1 100% synethic motor oil", they always give some convoluted proprietary answer, rather than saying we use x% ester, and x% PAO..or group IV or whatever.

I am certainly no expert on motor oils base types....wish I had more time for that. But we exclusively use Motul 100% synthetic lubricants. You could cook food with their 300V Competition oil. Or use it as a salad dressing...the stuff even smells like fine wine.

again, thank you Sharif. I have seen oil analysis tests done, and researched these topics, not relying on the manufacturer 'sales propoganda' FAQ section... if you could call it a 'answered question' section since they really don't answer the FAQ's at all... lol.

We carry two types of motor oil. Their 8100 X-Cess line, which is priced around the level of Redline or Royal Purple. Then there is the racing oil called Competition 300V. Motul claims some incredible change intervals with the 300V, so the higher cost would likely be offset by longer change intervals. They are located here: http://www.forgedperformance.com/store/home.php?cat=278

FYI, I used to run Mobil 1, and I've taken apart of couple of engines that used the oil as well. Honestly, there was no meaningful bearing or journal wear that I could detect. All modern oils provide outstanding levels of protection. But on really expensive engines, I don't want the best oil...I want the best of THE BEST.

I use to run Mobil 1 but then i started noticing oil consumption almost right away so i switched to Royal Purple.
Speaking of oil consumption, a guy here, RUZRIOUS had the exact same problem some time ago. He could hear his pistons pinging and when he when he checked it, their was no oil whatsoever in it. Yeah i know that it shouldnt do that but thats just careless. You should check it atleast twice a week.

Thanks Sharif

That is all I use as well. When I was consistently tracking the car more...all I ran was the 300v, but as of late I have been running the 8100. I am now waiting for Nippon to bring over their ENEOS oil and see what that is all about

lol, what about the Top Secret oil? what is it? 15 bucks a quart? 20? I can't imagine it protects the engine that much better.

I have the Amsoil with 1 yr 25k recomended change interval. I cahnged it at 10k last time, and the oil looked great when I took it out. I saved a quart to send it out for testing.
