The engine doesnt set the rev/fuel cut off the ecu does. I wonder if they reflashed his ecu with an older program or something?
I followed the book and I broke mine in to 1000 miles and changed the oil then.
I did some highway traveling while I broke it in too but I varied my speed between 60mph - 90mph about every 30 minutes or so for my 2 hour trip going and another 2 hours coming back.

^^ +1 on the break-in and oil changes.
Get full throttle accels heading up hill and not at high RPM or loading. Back off when you hit 45 -60 and lift off. This seats and expands the rings and
cylinders. Perform this 5-6 times.
Get a used oil analysis (about 60.00) by dyson labs. He will work with you on the tune and engine components seating propoerly. This is as opposed to BlackStone which just gives you raw data to interpret.

Oil Consumption Club
Add me to the club. I'm new to this forum but have 25K mi on a 2005 Anniversary Edition MT. I get my first OC test Sat. morning, already 10+mm at 1200mi. According to the TSB I fail. It sounds like I have a good plan to keep my occasionally shady dealer honest. I will drop the car off friday night, find a level spot, lock it. Come back first thing & ask for my OC and insist on being there with them. Then get it in writing what they will do. I already have photographed 3 readings at 10mm at 1100mi + the odometer. I will do it again Friday morning when the car is cold at about 1350mi, it will most likely be 11mm or more. Sound like a good plan? Saturday is the big day .

YOU SUGGEST OTHERWISE?
SO ACCELL SLOWLY TO FULL THROTTLE, BACK OFF AT 40-60 MPH? AND DO THIS 5 OR 6 TIME?

BLK 06' 21,000 miles
Just got my car back from Sutherland Nissan in Georgia with a fresh Motor! The most painless thing I have ever done. They where Great! I had them do the oil change, then I brought it back in 2,500 miles later and they confirmed it needed a new motor. I never said anything about wanting or needing a motor. 2 weeks later they called me to bring the car in, and they gave me a 08' Pathfinder rental (no cost to me). Thanks to Great Forums like this to do all the hard work for me.

MAYBE I SHOULD READ MY PREVIOUS POST, 3 ABOVE...
