Print out the TSB here on post 1. Read it and understand it completely. Bring it with you just in case Dealer plays stupid. Out wit them with knowledge without being an asshat in the process.

On return OC test trip, don't leave your Z or G out of sight so they can't play games with the oil level that seems to happen a lot with past stories; myself included until I wised up around that BS and then qualified. They couldn't top me off then take the official OC return test level reading that time lol.

Yes, during your oil consumption (OC) test drive it like hell (seriously) - if you baby it and it doesn't meet the threshold of oil loss per the TSB your SOL.

After it fails, call Nissan North America (NNA) and insist they open up a case for buyback (you demand they buyback your vehicle per the lemon law in your state).

Finally, and most important (I HOPE EVERYONE IS READING THIS), after 30 days NNA will call you back and they will intentionally try to fool you into an offer to take $4,500. They will make it sounds as if they are refusing your request for buyback and may say something like, "Our final ruling is to offer you x dollars (for me and the other blowhards here it was $4,500)". They will make you think this is their ONLY offer and may say just that - making you believe that's you're only option. However, if you do as I did and say *#$%^&* no, they will pause and immediately make you another offer, a buyback offer. TAKE IT!!!

I paid $26,999 for my '06Z and they came back within one month after this verbal call from NNA with the written agreement to pay me over $33k - that's b/c they paid my finance charges and other stuff that's included in a buyback.

Most people do well or profit from buyback but some get fooled into this NNA deceptive offer and take the money - I won't mention any names but it could happen to any of you.

P.S. - if you like the $4,500 offer remember you have to sign a statement prohibiting you to file a buyback claim and you will be stuck with the defective oil burning vehicle that's already lost value big time...

Has anyone heard of the #'s or % of Rev-Up Z's affected by this issue?
I've had mine checked in the past and everything was okay.

Did you get banned with the other names? Any-who nice stang, what happened to the subie you was going to buy with the buy back dollars?

Rudy, you got nothing to worry about. Just go talk with Craig from the same dealership I went to and they'll treat you well. They did one oil consumption test and confirmed a 20mm loss after just 1300 miles and replaced the block 2 days later.

And for your information Blake, the bro’s 06 350Z with the freshly built engine lasted and is still going strong. And if for some unforeseen reason it does fail…the new owner has the only extended warranty that I have heard that Nissan gave out. The new owner has it transferred over to them. If the time comes the new owner can still claim it as a lemon and go for a replacement instead of a buy back…Guess what the replacement will be? ….No not a stang, nor a subie….but a 370Z……kewl huh…you should have kept the 06 a little longer and milked the inventory of 08’s a little longer until they were gone and went for the 370Z as a replacement instead of taking the buy back…since you have been reading up on them so much from you previous posts. …And 06CPV35 said he would see ya on any “road coarse” not drag strip …you nemrod…...again selective reading… well gotta go, good talking to ya…. I think I hear your mom calling you to come in for another dose of Prozac.

kewl beens, that makes three if us with successful V2's and with a lot of mileage. Our ways must equal success, and all three ways were different...humm...makes you wonder if it's the oil, break-in, other secret regimes, whatever it is, it works.

Rblover69 = 20k+ mi
06CPV35 = 10k mi ??
ZeeForce = 21k mi (before sold last month) with a 6mm - 8mm OC on a 3750 oil change interval….damn that’s good. I’ll take that any day.

30k miles since my v2 swap. So far worst I've seen is a little under half a quart down in 5k miles, which I consider to be normal for the VQ. Broke engine in under Nissan Guidelines (do not rev over 4k, no full throttle for first 1500 mi). After that drove it normally.

Switched to synthetic after the break-in.

Just a under 10K on V2 with almost 5k on current Synth. Still showing signs of OC improvement with my frequent monitoring. UOA supports I can drive it like I stole it if I want to...and I do often with pleasure (your UOA results will vary as they will on all fresh V2s).

Only 13mm down in almost 5K miles on oil = success in my book and 'still' improving. It's been said that these can take 15-18K mi to be completely done with break-in.

Will monitor closely during next oil duration on my V2 (10K-15K), After that, I'll most likely done here. Presently, I could live with 13mm/5Kmi, but will hang around to report if it got even better at 15K or maybe even at 20K on V2.

God bless you too bro. My mom is deceased, if you didn't know that. Thanks for the personal attack on my mom, and myself.

Just got back from Nissan. They just marked my dipstick today and gotta go back in 1,000 miles. Exactly how hard do I need to drive my car to ensure that it should consume oil to get the new v2 engine?

Obviously it depends on the car and how bad your truly consuming oil. I was a bit timid to abuse the car while doing the consumption test because I was warned about the 70 hours of logged data they can pull which include RPM logging. I kept mine under 5k rpms the entire time I did my 1300 mile test and ended up being 20mm low which was well beyond the test threshold. Good luck
