I hope not that would look very bad for the fixed motor
That's weird, whenever i do my oil change, i pour in 5 qts and it's always at H mark.

Not to be redundant, but my mechanic, who has done quite a few swaps, said a brand new engine will take about 5 1/2 to fill all the nooks and crannies in the new engine.

your not being redundant its very true and bevo if your not changeing out the oil filter every time then it will take a little less to fill the oil (4 5/8) and its true that the oil in these cars for some reason seems to take awhile to drain totaly out so you might be getting some old oil sticking arround

Having my oil changed Monday. Had it changed at 200 miles on the V2 to avoid any metal shavings from break-in. Dealer usually gets me in and out just before lunch, but was busy last week and asked me to come in Monday, so I am at 3850 miles since the change at 200 miles, as of today.

Checked the oil level today, and I am just over a 1/3 of a quart above "L" on the dip stick. This means I have used just under 2/3 of a quart in 3850 miles ........... remember, this is break-in as well. This is VERY encouraging. The engine runs great and gets better and smoother every day. If the next oil change at around 7500 miles is the same or better, I will consider this a winner ....... a V2 success!!! Just wanted to share the update, so you guys can update that spreadsheet you're keeping "smiles"

John
ps: I drive this car the way it was meant to be driven, don't abuse her, but don't baby her either .... spirited driving.

Manufactured 02/06
22k miles

Due for an oil change and the level is 1/3 below full.

This is normal/to be expected for a properly functioning engine - correct?

Can anyone tell me which version engine I received from this info?
Congrats, I will add to the list the first Non Rev Up replacement engine. It will be interesting to see the stats over time.

Mine has not burned a drop and I have been to the track a few times, autoXing and I just flat out drive like a bat... That dyno was with HF CATs, Stillen Y, MotorD 5/16, and Injen 3inch to 2.5 intake. Good luck all hand with it...I still have mixed emotions about my 38K paper weight..but then, there are other days like this.... click here....that make it all better.

I ran the regular OEM stuff for the break in...then I went to Pensoil Platinum based off the Oil Analysis Thread found....
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=258663

FYI: after 500 miles not 5000 like they recommend....I beat the crap out of my car for maximum piston ring seatage!
My two cents!

Default V2 & V1 Installed Stats

Here is the latest stat's

It would make it easier for me to collect the data and update the spreadsheet, if the following format is used when posting your stats.

Thanks in advance

If you are new to the stat list, please provide the part # of your engine to verify if your engine is a V2 or V1.

Template:

Status:
So Far So Good – Still Pending
Some OC – Still Pending
Still Pending
Still Consuming
Success

OC: quarts per 1k miles: (please convert to 1k miles)
Engine Install Date:
Mileage on Engine: (new installed engine, not total mileage on vehicle)
Mileage on current oil change interval of 3750 – 4000:

Cool, thanks for the informative response...Dealer did not say what kind of oil they used(probably the cheap stuff), but the new motor was swapped on October 12.

I did not break it in easy....I'm gonna get an oil change soon.

I break in all my engines using Motoman's methods. Believe in it. Your engines will thank you.

Just updating mileage, everything else is still the same. 11,000 on the v2.

I'm currently getting everything officially documented and then will decided what my next move will be.

Well another one from Canada.

Dropped my car at Sherwood Nissan, Alberta, Canada few weeks back. Got the call today Nissan had agreed to replace the engine.

I was told there was a serious shortage for these new long blocks. Fortunately for me its winter so the cars asleep anyways, but Im told 3-4 months.

They asked me if it was parked for winter. I made the mistake of saying Yes. They said there giving the long blocks to anyone driving all year currently due to the shortage. So I have to wait.

Guess i'll post back in a few months when i get my engine.

Thanks for the update, you have the most miles on the V2 and the results are encouraging. 0.3 qt per 1k mi (less than 1/3 qt) which calculates out to an average of 1qt 1/8 per oil change of 3750 mi. Keep us posted on your next move.

Guys,

I want to take a moment to recognize a couple guys that have been very instrumental in making this thread a success from the start. We all should take a moment and reflect back to say a year ago when everyone had no place to go for answers on the oil consumption issue, everyday new and different tales were popping up from the dealers and NNA, there was kaos, disbelief, confusion, frustration, anger, disappointment, stress, marriages were torn apart, (owner and car) brother against brother, those were the days. These guys put everything into perspective so today their time here has given the rest of us some ground work to base our case against NNA and the dealers.

dbasal and bofa are the godfathers of this topic. Their help, support and advice have been truly valuable for all of us in dealing with NNA and our dealers. Without their experiences dealing with NNA and sharing it with the community, this topic discussion would be nothing less than a be-chin thread. I would have to say this thread has been and still is the best thread on this site where everyone is polite and helpful to all. No thanks to dbasal and bofa for setting the tone.

A real asset to this community!

Thanks
-Curtis
