Yes, the great majority of the time.

I had to get my tranny replaced around 35,000 miles. 5th gear was grinding and dealer said there was a whole lotta metal shavings in the tranny. Common problem. I suggest extending your warranty.

Is this a weak attempt to start another AT/MT war? Any noob that knows how to use a search button would know that the ATs on the Z are bulletproof. It's the MTs that had all the tranny problems.

Manuals are the ones with the tranny issues but im pretty sure that either one can have the tire feathering issues etc.

Your thread title is confusing.

Are you asking if ATs are the only ones with or without tranny probs? My 5AT's tranny has been flawless so far after ~32K miles.

I have a 2003 350z performance model, with 45k on it, what should I do? Im worried its going to have problems soon from reading these forums. Should I extend the warranty? or Should I start saving up for a new tranny?

no im sorry to say that the weak tranny is the manual the At unless to much power is put into it and abused really hard you wont even hear a thing on it. So far the At has proven to be a hard rock solid piece in the drivetrain with extremely minimal problems that very few members have had i cant even remember one. In the other hand the manual for some reason is extremely weak dont know why.

plenty of info on this already, as well as other threads dedicated to tranny discussion.

If you're worried about reliablilty, get a car with a WARRANTY. End of story.
