Your Z is going to own the road. Talk about tons of power in a super reliable setup. What ECU are you going to run?

So 3.9 lines up better with the T-56? That makes sense. My camaro buddies make fun of my 3.5 saying how weak it must be off the line.

Then I hit the brakes.

Noah if you don't mind Michelin's or BFGoodrich's then I can put you in contact with the rep I went through to get my sponsorship.

sweet dude.....sponsorships will help me.....i don't even think i can afford gas after all is said and done.

in regards to tuning....my main concern is reliability as well as passing emissions...brian hinson will be using a vette ecu reprogrammed to eliminate dash lights, speed limiter(YAYYYYY), caibrate the speedometer and tach and run the tuning while letting my Z ecu run the rest of the car's functions. He has sucessfully done this to RX-7s and 240s and the cars were still be OBD2 compliant. In essence the Vette ECU will act like an emissions legal stand-alone. BTW for interested parties a simple turn-key LS1/LS2 swap should run around $9K. If only I would have known this before going turbo!!!

This is gonna be nasty when its finished, really looking forward to seeing what this motor is capable of. Could you PM me what this motor costs? I'm wondering what its costs is in comparison to a 408 stroker (almost 7 grand)since the LSX is said to be able to handle 2500hp.

honestly I don't know.....I am not even trying to look at the receipts until the car is done!

Hinson is expecting the swap at being anywhere from $9-13K depending on motor and other options. IMO if I would have thought of this over a year ago I would have been a lot happier. I mean $9K for a reliable LS2 that makes more power than most bolt on turbo kits that cost the same. Plus I mean add spray for a feww hundred and bye bye everything on the road.

is the 9k for the motor swap only or is that for the motor w/t56 and new FD? I'm very very interested if they can make it emissions compliant. Stupid CARB...

I would assume $9K would include the trans and all ecu and wiring work necessary to get her to be a turn-key car. Doubt the final drive would be included at that price but I am also not 100% sure.

LOl Jon u had me go back to teh first post to see when it shipped. It feels like forever but it was picked up at 7pm or so on 3/12/07. MY original date of recovery would have been July but Hinson is stating that I can see her back anytime before June.

lol I think there will be an LS army soon. Since my plans for getting a vette fell through, this would be the next best thing to do with the G. The price for the motor/tranny and work is the same price as most of the kits on the market.

Noah, so you are saying that they would be able to do this swap for under $10k parts/labor installed?

I am praying and hoping that this will come out as a turn key thing for z's. Furthermore, how would carb work for us California Z's?

Would it be possible to do FI on top of this motor swap? Or would it make no sense due to diminishing returns with huge power (given traction).

Thanks for being the pioneer, I want to TT my Z...however if this is a safer bet...can you imagine the Z with a lopey *** cam *DIES*

I'd pee myself.

Hinson could make a killing offering this as an alternative to FI. Look how many guys have gone into the 15k range trying to squeeze 700hp out of the VQ.

I bet it would be possible, pending on your build components. the LSX block can handle 2500hp. I cant wait to see the results, if this turns out to be as awesome as it sounds I will totally jump on this. So I guess now I will halt looking for a new car and save funds for this.

My original plan was to turbo the car and basically leaving every car in the dust....after many calls with hinson and GM 1000 on spray is more than enough for me....the 1600 or 2100 rwhp options for single or twins is absolutely overkill for someone who plans on driving the car on a normal basis......i believe my original quote with a 383 LS1 and t-67 was in the sub-$20K range....factor in a GReddy TT with supporting mods etc and you will be close to that yet a lot less reliable and nowhere near the power....if you guys look at Hinson's site you will see all of his kits for FDs etc are all turn-key...i basically gave him my car so he can produce a k-frame and sort out the programing so there is an option for us besides turbos...no more $1000 to tune your ecu with every mod...hinson has lifetime ecu work included in his price so any mod he'll retune for nothing!!!!

I worked at AAM and the now defunct Performance Motorsports....I am glad there is a new option out there for us. My car will either scare the crap out of me or leave me begging for more......so I hope to post up my turbo addition sometime next year.....

And guys hinson loves our cars....please feel free to call him and ask any questions....I am just waiting for some more parts to arrive so i can finally gether running.....

Oh YEAH!!!!! I'm seeing if it's not too late to pop in the 670hp 454 option a la reggie jackson!!! If they didn't start machinig I will be shooting for well into 7XX N/a with some spray to hit into 1XXX rwhp
