Install is approximately $400. It will decrease gas mileage slightly depending on how you normally drive.

You cannot get a 3.9 on a Base model Z though correct ... ? Because we dont have LSD ... So what would be the cost to get 3.9 on a base model ?? This is the one area of the Z Im not really educated on.

+1 on the spacer and MREV2!!!! since you have a revup motor this is the best mod hands down for the money USE THE SEARCH <---search is your friend

ill even help you...enter "plenum" spacer...enter "MREV2"...

you'll find all kinds of info on these mods + dyno graphs to show what they are actually doing to your car. there are some mods that you do to a car that you cant feel...with the spacer and MREV2 you will definitely feel a difference!!

If 600-800 dollars is too much for you, I advise not modding your car any.

true dat. 350Z's are NOT cheap to modify, thats an undisputed fact. If ya want somethin that you can fiddle around with for cheap go buy a hatch and start swapping motors.

Just stating the truth. Up to you if you want your head in the sand. 600-800 won't get you much... an intake & plenum spacer (maybe one more item if lucky). Wow, congrats on your newfound 10-15rwhp (if that).

The only way to extract very good returns on the VQ (N/A) is to sink a large amount of cash. It would be alot cheaper to go FI.

BTW, referring to as an "Elitist ***"... If that's truly your view in regards to 600-800, you definately shouldn't mod your car.

Have a nice day.

personally I love the idea of modding, but I think that the Z is fast enough and handles great stock (for me).. I came from an acura 2.3 cl. I wasted $$ on body kit/ audio instead and looking for rims/ drop. I just got a pop charger, contemplated the spacer, but since i do all my upgrades(trust issues) i think thats not worth the work. you might want to consider high flow cats, plenum spacer and pop charger for the most. A small shot of n2o might not be a bad idea you can prolly get like a 75 shot installed properly with all the safety for <2 grand

I'm seriously considering the swap from 3.3 to 3.5 for the torque/acceleration improvement.

Aside from the decrease in gas mileage, are there any downsides? Rough shifting, for example, cuz the AT was calibrated for the original 3.3 gears?

And a related question: why didn't Nissan use the 3.5 with AT to begin with?

You have a z with all those mods and you still live at home, lose the z and invest in a home.
