Default Anyone running Electromotive, Haltech.. etc?

I'm building a VQ for our S13 drag car project.. We're looking at running Electromotive, or Haltech for management.. Just wondering if anyone else has set thier Z or G up with any of the big aftermarket standalones out there.. If so, please post pics/details of your setup.. Here's what I'm planning on doing..

Electromotive TEC3R
3 bar GM MAP sensor
GM intake air and coolant temp sensors
60-1 6" diameter trigger wheel, CNC cut to fit on a pre-cut register on a stock pulley
Nissan GMR style magnetic sensor (has much better resollution versus the parts that electromotive uses)
Q45 mechanical throttle body with 0-5 volt TPS
1000cc injectors/Aeromotive A1000 pump with dual -6 feed lines
Billet rails (thanks to CJM)

Our S13's have standard cable-style throttle systems.. so, the e-gas pedal isn't a concern.. The CVTC will be modified operate as a "on/off" system.. we will be redrilling the dowel pin holes in each sprocket, to have a new window of range that the cam timing can be adjusted within. Basically.. we will start out at X amount of advance.. anywhere below the optimal crossover point.. Say.. 4000rpm.. Then, the solenoids will turn off, dropping the advance back to zero degrees from there out to the limiter. We have actually tried this with the QR25DE with good success. The only other mod is that you must install restrictors in the front plates that feed oil to the CVTC sprocket.. This lowers the pressure inside the sprocket. If you sit on the dowel pin with the solenoid cracked open.. you build up enough pressure to blow out the fiber washers that seal the oil feed plates on the front of the engine. The cool thing about this.. which we really didn't anticipate.. is that the drop in pressure decreases the response time.. which makes the cross-over less apparent on the dyno, and in the seat. The result is a very smooth transition.

Anyway.. hope I didn't bore you guys.. long story made short.. I'd like to see your standalone setups, and discuss..

Travis

No one here has. Chris Muzio over at Danzio Performance has done a couple VQs with the Haltech e11v2 and got it controlling the variable cam timing with it as well. Of course the VQ was in a sand rail.

Everyone else here runs the HKS Fcon V Pro or Magnetti Marielli as a stand alone.

Interesting.. I didn't realize that the E11v2 could control nissan CVTC.. I'll have to give them a call..

I talked with him about it for a little while at SEMA and he mentioned splitting one of the configurable outputs from the e11 to the Cam solenoids but he didn't exactly say how he configured the outputs to work. He did say he got a lot of power across the band when he got it working right. He should be able to tell you what he did if you call him. He works with Haltech directly a lot and the Haltech reps were over with him talking about it.

I will definitely give him a ring.. thanks man.. I didn't realize that you could do pulsewidth modulation on the general purpose outputs. I know the Sentra guys will like this too.. since it's always been a big pain in the @ss losing CVTC with a standalone.

Yeah buddy 4 PWM outputs out of box on the e11v2...

Good luck with the build and keep us all posted..
