no one talks like that. and yes, Will probably just wanted to spread some info, or cause some discussion in the community.

your sentence makes me think you are an idiot? so what? (why not read it, it was a joke from another member, not an assertion from the OP)

Well em-effer himself said the car wasn't that smooth, he is the second member i know of with high compression pistons and cams. The other member is Rich from austrailia I think.

Maybe he can chime in. Me personally, I wouldn't play around with the timing on the sprocket mainly because the engine is designed to have a certain degree of adjustment. If you wanted more of an adjustment the nismo DTC's can probably provide it with aftermarket cams or nismo cams.

As for the REVUP cams, I only know of JWT that makes it and those are the S7's. Theres one guy that has em but he has low comp. pistons so the gains weren't as high as they would be with stock or higher compression pistons.

The crawford cams weren't that bad actually, they were streetable and I think on dougs daily driven Z.

My point in all this was when someone spent so much money on intake, exhaust, gearing, headers, tp's/HFC's/, ecu, clutch/ flywheel. Wouldn't they go the extra mile and spend a few more bucks to get a higher performing cam setup rather than a OEM revup cam.

If emeffer is able to tune out the lumpy power and the net power gain is within a few hp, then isn't saving $1200 mol worth looking at? I guess I'm missing something here...

The revup motors have "electromagnetic lift" on the exhaust cam. If that is so, then how will that affect the non revup? How can the non revup utilize this "lift" if not equipped?
I'd like more information please.

I would have to call BS on this. I have done cams on a Vq 35 where the timming chain was off by one link and the car ran like TOTAL dog ****. Cam timming is not something that you can manipulate effectively just by adjusting the chain.

its not by manipulating the chain.....there is no manipulation of the chain that is even possible - you can't change its length

The manipulation comes from retarding the exhaust sprocket 1 degree

But when it comes down to it, I hardly see the point, especially given the time it takes to swap cams on this car. The Z has a traditional combustion engine - it does not work drastically differently than any other engine. If you advance your cam timing, you tend to gain more bottom end at the expense of top end - if you retard cam timing, the reverse happens.

The problem in doing a fixed manipulation of the sprocket is you've now changed the entire curve as a result. The beauty of variable cam setups is the ability to map cam timing at various rpm points, to take advantage of the cams lobe design and make it "sing" its best tune at every point from idle to redline. Once we have some more ecu options to do that, the power curve can really go up, especially for the forced induction guys.

That's nice and all, but the naysayers are the only ones throwing down any knowledge so I'm left writing this off as a bad idea.
