Default High-pitched sound from engine compartment

Any idea what this could be? The key is in, the engine is off and I hear a high pitched sound like a door-beep but it's a lower tone.

Thx.

That is the single best response I've seen on any message board.

Ever.

ah yes im familiar with said noise.

it is the micromotor inside your throttle body adjusting.

key is in and in the "on" position, however engine is off.

IAC - IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR / Nissan may call it an AIS, not sure

fix = remove the key

I believe it's your coil pack, which replaces the old school distributor cap design. Don't leave your key in that position too long or you'll burn the pack out. I believe this is what it is. I could be wrong.

if it's the hissing sound when the key is in the "on" possition but the engine is off, then it's the throttle body. I'm almost 100% sure. To check, open your hood, turn the key to the "on" position while engine is off, and step on the throttle. You'll hear it working

I thought Nissan and most new cars don't use servo motors to control idle speed anymore...The ECU just makes small adjustments to the throttle
