I want to go from 287HP to 400hp, what is the best way to do it?
I want to upgrade my motor from 287hp to 400-425hp at the crank. I am hoping to retain reliability, durability, and (wishful thinking) keep the warranty if possible. That is the goal, now, can anyone explain the best way to do that?
Thanks, Jeff

really, without lots of work, and/or a turbo/sc i cant see getting that kind of power AND stay under warrenty. so its either live with our ~240 hp at the wheels (hp at crank is practically meaningless), or void the warrenty.
RB26DETT swap, then mod the poop out of it.
But seriously, i would have to concur that you should go with a turbo/sc setup and rework the engine to get where you want to go...I doubt you'll keep the warranty at 400hp so you may as well ditch it now.

Honestly, there is no way to gain 400hp and keep warrenty. Mainly because there is no SINGLE item besides a turbo, which can boost hp that much, and with a bunch of smaller bolt ons, you'll void the warrenty, unless you plan on removing everything when there is a problem. Here are my suggestions:
1) Turbo Kit - About 7,000 installed or so.
2)
-Injen Cai (3-5hp)
-Full Cat Back Injen Exaust (23hp or so, when combined with CAI, it gave 31rwhp more to injen project car)
-Weight reduction - Won't add power, but will give you much quicker accleration
-Nitrious Kit (50shot will be plenty, although I don't suggest nitrious is the right way to go)

You killed an RX-7 turbo? That's interesting.

On a side note, I think have a 400RWHP 350Z would be an amazing experience. Given the short time they have been on the market, there is already a good amount of parts. I imagine in the next few years we will see some outstanding developments in the HP area. It will be nice to have a sports car with high HP and lots of luxury items
Thanks for input everyone. I keep hoping NISMO will release a TT or SC thus keeping my hopes alive with having HP and a warranty. I know it would most likely be less HP than other SC or TT.
I am not impressed with the Stillen SC, low HP, sticking out of the hood, yuck!
I am interested in the Greddy TT but most interested in the ATI procharger/SC with an intercooler. Seems they are getting about a 50% HP gain in most of their products at 6psi which would put the Z at about 430hp (150% X 287 hp). It is projected to be released in late June.
I will wait until October hoping for NISMO updates before making a choice and buying after market, warranty vioding options. I think NISMO S Suspension is my next mod....

Victor, I agree chances of NISMO SC or TT are low but why not wait 4-6 months hoping for best of all options meaning performance though most likely limited + warranty.
VQracer: Yep, Greddy looks great and to me, biggest advantage of it over ATI SC is varible boost (if you dare) but ATI usually comes in two levels, one giving 50% increase in hp and another giving 75%-80% increase in hp but requiring different jets, mods to motor etc. I would got for 50% increase in hp which would be over 400hp and keeping motor stock but then again, once you start increasing hp, is there ever enough?
