I don't think its under warranty unless you have an extended warranty! Call the DEALER!

A car with only 51,000 miles should not burn oil. You know that.

Default i went to the dealer today

i went to nissan about my 03 z consuming oil between oil changes not just a lil oil but so much it dosent show on the dip stick.. so they say they were giving new motor bc of the problem and now they found out that its the valve covers... now how true is this?? an should i try to get a new motor or just let them do the change????

Does the car leak oil, if it doesn't leak at all then the engine consumes oil, and thats not good but any way you have a long warranty IMO do as they recommend if it solves the problem thats good, if it doesn't let them change the motor,,,

Valve covers??? This is news to me. Since when did valve covers have anything to do with the oil consumption problems reported with our engines?

i bet you have oil in your spark plugs. A leaky valve cover would definatly show signs of oil on the ground. Honestly though, i have an '03 base with 51300 on it, and it doesn't leak or burn a drop. I do the oil changes myself, so i would notice. Good luck with things, i wouldn't say changing the valve cover is such an "engine swapping" ordeal, but free is free, take what you can get.

An '03 burning oil like that is definitely not normal.

(super expert opinion)

well the dealer says that it has happend alot among 03s but something to do with the valve covers cause it to burn oil or something like that..something to do with the the inside material causes it to burn... i dont know i dont think it will help but whatever as long as it stop.. and my warranty is 100,000 miles or 2013 and i have 62000 on a enth.

10 year warranty, did you purchase a 6 year warranty in 07 for an 03 model? Something doesn't sound right!
