RPM based ticking noise?!????
ive spent all morning looking thru old posts but really cant find any info that is revealing.....on the way to work this morning after about 35 minutes or so, when approaching a light i bumped the revs to match 2nd gear and started decelerating. from about 4k down to 2.5k i got a really unusuall ticking coming from what sounded like was right behind the dash or underneath the dash right in front of me. so i pulled away and got the same thing w/accel starting at 2.5k all the way up. when it comes it is slow, and become very fast when the RPMs get higher.
i really wouldnt expect injectors or valves to sound like this. car only has 2300 miles??? any thoughts.

Does it sound like current arching? I had a similar problem in a previous car where I had some arching in one of my coil packs that would tick proportionate to the speed of the engine.

Because our cars are direct-injected, there is a coil pack over each cylinder.
Let the car idle and see if you can determine where the ticking is coming from. You may want to buy a mechanics stethoscope from harbor freight ($5.99)

Try unplugging the sensor harness from your EVAP control solenoid, that's bolted to the plenum, near the back passenger side. You'll get a CEL, but if the noise stops, it's a bad solenoid.
well, it didnt do it on the way home yesterday...but sure enough it was ticking away on the drive into work today!?! the last two days it was <60 degrees for the morning commute, so that must have something to do with it?
