I'm also talking about the power curve. Stock 07's beat 06's with no problem as it is (not just due to the extra power, but the larger usable power curve). Give the 07 gears and that just gets worse -- without needing to reflash to raise the rev limit.

True to the above post, while I don't have extensive experience on the 06's, I got one as a loaner with 8K miles yesterday and it wasn't nearly as quick as my stock base 07 that's still in te break in period. It was fun though.

in first gear maybe...as you go higher in the gears, the time you spend going 500 rpm at the right side of the tach takes long and longer and the differences become more pronounced

that and it's not like the transmission gear ratios changed. You're still spending the same % in each gear. You're just starting and ending 500 rpms higher

3.91 Gears with a Vortech Supercharger making 400whp. Good idea or bad? I am thinking that since the Vortech is very linear, the shorter gearing will help it accelerate and get in the power band faster, while still having decent traction because there is no peak low-end torque like turbo's. I want to benefit in road-racing as I know shorter gears + FI are a step backwards in drag racing.

So anyone else have any input, with a 100 shot, would it even be worth going to the 3.7(for the cost). and still, 4.0 is too much for a 100 shot right?

im still at a question mark for how these gears would behave in a stock 06. Would it be that more pronounced then stock gearing in a race?

it would behave exactly the same as it does on any other manual transmission Z - 14% quicker acceleration in every gear vs stock

You'll behave stock, just faster in each gear! Top speed down a little. Gas mileage still good. ~ 300 rpm higher cruising in each gear. But worth it...get em!

OK, I got 03 6spd and will be doing a reflash before gears. I am running 275/35/19 Volk SF Challenge. Should I go 3.917 or 4.08? It seems like the 3.9 would be ideal but I am not sure if the 4.08 would be better matched to my wheels. I would like to make it to 60 in 2nd and the Techno reflash only goes to 71K rpm not 72k. So what should I do? Performance is everything.

Or should I scrap my OEM LSD and get the NISMO LSD with 3.9 gears installed? Cant really afford this option but if the NISMO LSD will make that much of a difference over the factory LSD, then I may have to make it happen...Thoughts?......Getting my reflash and dyno-tune tomorrow.

I am planning on getting the 4.08 even though I don't have an HR. The Nismo LSD works great. It also makes you a much more aware driver of your throttle position and the amount of torque applied to the driveshaft. That determines how much clunk you get while driving in the parking lot.
You'll get stairs from people in shopping plazas with expressions on their face that say, "What is wrong with that guys car?" What they don't know is, that sound makes your car sooo much better when driving hard.

But from what I've read, the VLSD is ample for the stock hp. Even up to 270 rwhp. So it's up to you really. Do you want that much confidence in corners? Do YOU have that much confidence in corners?

350evo 3.917 FD and additional parts are ordered but I pull mid 280s on a DynoJet so I hope it wont be a problem. The VLSD is fine now and the new gears are not supposed to add any stress to anything so it should be OK.....right? Never heard of this 270RWHP limit for the OEM VLSD, hope it wont be a problem

I have an '06 base... with a a good amount of engine mods, 19" volk GT-S's and i am running the 4.083 gears and a Cusco RS LSD (From mynismo.com) and installed at my local nissan dealer... it made such a difference... just have to break in the new lsd and the car drives so much better...( letting out the clutch etc. is def. different w/ that new rear end...but do it if your going to stay n/a for awhile. 1st and 2nd top out quick and once you hit 3rd you pull away from a lot of other cars. ( I played w/ a stock '06 the other day and he couldn't keep up... it was fun. haha g/l

so the Nismo 1.5 way LSD works with the 4.083? on mynismo.com says for use with 3.5, 3.7 or 3.9. wasnt sure but i would MUCH rather pay 500 for a 4.08 than over a grand for the "nismo" 3.9...

Yes I believe the Nismo will work although Andy at Performance Nissan said the cusco was better and made less noise... but which ever you'd prefer..
