**** 4.083 Gears/Final Drive Installed****

For those of you who installed the OEM 4.083 ring and pinion... what size shims were required?
I've been told by multiple domestic installers that if the gears have tight tolerances (like being OEM), the original shims will typically work.

I have it installed. just did a ETRSCCA Solo II event at Pellissippi this past Sunday and won the street tire modified class over three C5 corvettes, two S2K's and a Z3M roadster. the 4.08/Cusco LSD combo REALLY helped on the tighter pelli course. my spotters told me I was coming out of the corners faster than anyone else in my class. thats an interesting theory spdfreak. if I end up doing 275/40-17 Hoosier/Kumho/Hankook slicks on 17x10 RPF1's next season i'll let ya know if my top speed in each gear drops any.

i may just get the gears installed w/o lsd. cant find the quaife lsd. is this a serious mistake? (i have base model). or i may just find a stock vlsd pumpkin to swap the gears into. either way without lsd upgrade the install should be about 1k...with labor... it seems. most people spend this on exhaust...this mod is more of a monster!

I'd personally be more interested in a 3.9 because my highway mileage sucks enough as it is, not looking to buy anytime "soon." But end of the summer should have a little liquidity to play with.
