My cruise control works fine. I've tested it up to 85 miles per hour and it works correctly. I have a 6mt G35 Coupe.

I think it's automatic transmission cars that have the cruise problem. I read up on it once, but don't remember the exact specifics.

ah, good to know. I'll check it out from that angle and see if it's mostly 5AT cars.

Here's a chart that I made for my car with the 4.08 gears and my rear tires (285/35x19). It lists the RPM in each gear and the miles per hour that the car will be going.

This chart is from the link Todd posted in his first message in this thread. If you are thinking of buying these gears, it would be worthwhile to read this whole (long) thread.

As I remember it had to do with the sensors. The ECU compared the driveshaft RPM with the rear wheel RPM and if the math didn't compute, the ECU suspected a problem and turned cruise control off.

5AT's usually have a 3.33, so the delta to a 3.92 or 4.08 is greater than a 6mt. That's about all I can remember. There are several threads on this topic... as I remember, it was a guy that worked at Nissan that actually solved the problem.

if you happen to recall any threads about the fix, post up or PM me, i'm going to try to sort through the search engine here and see if I can pull anything up. Thanks for sending me in the right direction tho

I came across some info that states the 2nd Gen G35 sedan gear ratio is 3.69 for both the 6MT and the 5AT.

If this is true then I should have even less issue moving to the 4.083 gears.

Does anyone know where I could confirm the 3.69 ratio?

The Service Manual for your G will have it. Look under the section for the rear axle and there should be a page named Service Data and Specifications.

It should have the final drive ratio for both the automatic and the manual transmission for your year.

4.08 might be a little steep, I dont know, but the 350Evo 3.917 and KAAZ 2Way LSD combination really made a difference in my Z. WOW, is the best word to describe the difference, just plain WOW. Also added the 350Evo Race Short Shifter, very nice pc, shifts are short and precise and its one solid pc so you hear the tranny at high rev shifts, sounds really cool. The gears just launch you down the road like you wont believe and the LSD is a HUGE difference from the OEM VLSD. I thought the Z handled amazingly before but I was just ignorant Its like a whole new car now, these 3 mods all at once really changed the car significantly but combined with all my other mods, they totally make it feel like you are driving a race car. Very pleased I only hope that Nissan puts off the next generation Z for a couple more years, maybe a summer 2010 or 2011 release of the 2011 or 2012 model. I will be so pissed if they release a 2010 model in 2009, I am so not done having fun with this one yet

and if you had it set up as a 1.5 way, you'ld really get to see how it handles.....2 way is great for hanging the tail out. It stinks for anything else

I feel that it depends a lot on driving style. I too prefer the 1.5way simply because I dont like the twitchyness *sp?* under braking. Although a lot of porsche guys swear that spools are the only way to roll.

As long as the pavement is dry its fantastic. You can hang it out if you like but it doesnt react any differently than a 1.5 on accel and on decel I havent had any problems at all. You just have to understand the difference in the way the car behaves and react accordingly. Unless you come full throttle into a corner at the top of 3rd and dump it into 2nd , I dont think there is gonna be an issue. Rainy conditions on the other hand are another story, but all of us have rain issues no matter what LSD we got, its just not a bad weather kinda car, so you just take it easy in the rain.

the difference in turn in response, and overall turning radius between it set up as a 1.5 way or 2 way is significant FWIW, but if its working for you, great. It just would not be my choice nor recommendation for anything but all out drift use

Default Gearing Graph

My 1.5 Nismo LSD is great! Very predictable. My brother had a 2-way on his AE86 and that thing handled (with a complete suspension upgrade, and when I say "complete", I mean complete) almost as good as my stock Z.
Here is a graph I created in MS Excel thanks to the f-body gears calculator. It shows all gear options and you can see graphically just how much your engine speed will change at a given speed. If you need a higher redline, just simply print, draw a higher limit redline, and extend the lines! Check it out!

For those of you who have 4.0 or 3.9 FD gears what gear are you in at 35-40 mph and at 70-75mph also what rpm range are you around. IE. 5th gear, 40 mph, ~2,000 rpms. thanks for the help
