I will most likely go FI in the future. I would probably go supercharger instead of turbo though so I think the gears should still be ok. (As long as I get some kind of reflash to raise my revlimiter)

I want these gears to hold me off of trying to justify FI right now. I dont want to install them and feel like it was a waste of money and I should have just used the money to go SC.

FI > Gears anyday. Does this answer your question?
btw, how much quicker will your car be in the 1/4 with the gears. ask yourself that and get a comparable mod that's more cost efficient. I know in the muscle car world jumping from 3.27 to 4.30 got me .2-.3 quicker. just fyi...

However here is my dilema:
Vortech + minor supporting mods - $6000+
or
4.083 gears + installation - $1150
Nismo V2 body kit + paint/install - $2000
Helix Test Pipes - $125
Red leather seats + shift boot - $800
AVIC D3 + ipod interface - $650
Valentine V1 - $400
and still have like 800 left lol.
I think I want all the other stuff. haha.
I will probably go FI when I am out of college in a few years.

with a Vortech, for example, it would be awesome...great top end power from the s/c (Vortech does nothing down low in the revs) and good downstairs gains from the gears
would also work well with a low boost setup such as HKS, Stillen

I understand a centrifigal SC does less on the bottom end, but there is still a gain down low too. Of course it's nothing like a twin screw SC...

Has anyone done this yet?? I have the Vortech SC on my Z and I think gears would be insane (roasting tires is FUN)!!

Yea i have a vortech and had the gears in for about 2 days but had to take them back out because they were making a real bad whining noise, i was told it was due to the gears not being lined up properly. This gearing was SOOOOO much better than stock though.

But if you're going to be taking apart your rear-end you might as well buy a LSD at the same time, installation will most likely be cheaper.
