In searching the thread, I couldn't come up with much dealing with nitrous and a new FD. I saw a couple of replies elsewhere on the forum hinting that to run the 3.9 and nitrous, the setup would require a Maximiser or some other controller of sorts to ramp up the shot. I'm pretty sure I won't be going FI, as the car is my DD three seasons outta the year, but I will be getting a nitrous setup a little bit down the road.
Anyone have any say on this? Would the 4.083 be totally out of the question in regards to nitrous?

so i cant read all the pages, i only have enough time to read the first 5, but did anyone ever see how much time this shaved off 0-60? i have an 07 z and am strongly considering the 4.083. I know magazines have our car at the 5.2 second range for 0-60 and if i keep my car stock with the shorter gear is it realistic to expect 4.8 seconds?

no one has the equipment to do 0-60 measurements that I know of on this board. You should refer to the first page, should answer most questions you could have
3.9 ring and pinion: http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ne&prodid=1726
not worth the extra price of admission vs the 4.08 - especially on an 07 + car (IMHO)

hmm i was hoping someone took theres to a track! oh well, would you guess that it would be fair to say 5.2 sec down to 4.8 sec 0-60mph with the 4.08?
thanks for the reply, so your confirming that the 3.9 gear is more expensive than the 4.08? and to confirm the 4.08 comes out of the titan, whereas the others are all aftermarket? thanks!

pricing is different because it's a different part - just like the clutch from a 350Z and the clutch from a different Nissan model might be a different price. All the gearsets are factory Nissan parts from various models, either here, or in Japan.

**Latest 4.083 Review**
Car: 2007 Base Model, mods in sig
Synopsis: I purchased a pumpkin w/ VLSD and 4.083 FD gears already installed (highly recommended for DIY) Swapped it out today in about 3 hrs. Upon reading various other reviews, I didn’t have my hopes up too high for this “amazing” transformation.
Verdict: It was amazing! The car pulls so much harder with the perfect launch. This is great mod for those who plan to stay N/A. Even my homie who rode in my car various times said there was a noticeable change in acceleration. Since I now have a LSD, I have to relearn how to launch with the new components as the rear end doesn’t break loose as easy as before. To give you an understanding of the change, just imagine all the gears you have now shifted one time to the right (or left, whatever you prefer). 6th gear now feels like how my 5th gear used to feel, and so on.
Street wise: First gear is a blur, though you need to pay attention because redline comes up rather quickly (8K redline). Second feels almost like first gear, third is a fast gear also. One thing I did notice, my speedometer is off about 3-5 mph below what is showing on the tach. Any fixes for that? Highway driving is manageable. There's enough power to pass without downshifting while cruising in 6th. Haven't gauged my fuel efficiency yet, but doesn’t seem like it will be bad at all.
Track wise: No real review but my best was 13.51 without LSD/gears. Factoring on what some folks with gears showing .4-.5 track time savings, I may be staring at possible high 12's. Unfortunately, our drag track is closing due to not making enough bread to stay open. I may roll to Texas Motorplex in Dec if it is still active. Updates once I get to a track.
