Question Mod build up question?

Hey everyone i'm new to the Z world. I just bought an 03 MT Z. As far as mods all i've done so far is a pop charger & magnaflor dual exhaust--suprisingly happy with. I'm looking to with the Crawford Cast Upper Plenum and SKUNK 2 Plenum Spacer for total of $550 from SGP next. I wanted to get everyone's input incase I was wasting money or i'd appreciate any other suggestions for the best performance for a reasonable price nothin outrageous for the moment.

Thanks ahead,
Justin

Do one or the other. I don't see how combining them would give you any kind of significant gains, particularly for the price. You could get similar performance and save more than half if you go with one of the Motordyne spacers.

you would do either a plenum or a spacer as mentioned...I would doubt you could even fit both, nor would both offer any benefit

As mentioned above, both will not do anything except work against you. I didn't know they still made those crawford plenum's? Anyways, if you use that be prepared to change strut bars, and the same thing with that skunk spacer. Personally i would save a few hundred, get the ISO MD spacer and call it a day. Wont have to replace your strut bar, and you'll gain the same if not more hp.

Ditch the Skunk spacer all together. Also, the Crawford is nice, but I'd just go with a MD 3/8th or 1/2in spacer and call it a day...

The one thing I'm curious about... did SGP suggest this combo to you? Or did you ask for it and that's what they quoted you? Or have you not even approached them about it?

you really need to do some heavy searching this weekend in the engine/exhaust threads, etc

cams should be on the bottom of your list to consider for first mods

First round mods:

Exhaust (many styles to choose from, stick to a brand name, to avoid ebay junk)

Intake - the least important thing. Anything from a drop in to a cold air will work, all personal preference...it literally makes 0 difference, don't let anyone tell you differently

plenum spacer - AAM or Hydrazine, both work great, fit great, give immediate gains

test pipes or high flow cats - very little difference between them in performance, significant difference between them in terms of noise. Again, go with what your budget and noise preferences are, and stick to brand names again (no $5.00 ebay junk here either, or you'll regret it, if you get it to work at all)

pulley - optional, but to me, a great mod. Lighter crank at a minimum, full set if you want extra bling. Helps overall engine response, and is an easy install

ecu - once the above are on, get either an ecu flash if you plan to leave the car at it's current state, or a utec if you plan for additional mods in the future.

Z1 Performance summed it up pretty well for ya. Just take your time and search. That's the only way you will learn to make the most from your car and not waste money on retarded mods. Plan for the future. Something I didn't do. I like to rush to much.
