I've noticed when I'm WOT and shifting in my Z, that it was difficult to get in and out of gear. Would grind a lot. I fixed it by adding a Weapon-R engine torque damper. Now it shifts smooth, all the time.

Your engine moves laterally, when running. Moves the most, under WOT. This causes your engine to be mis-aligned with your transmission, which can cause grinding when shifting. Adding an engine torque damper will reduce this lateral movement, and may help fix your problem.

Good luck.

i have an 03 z with single kit turbo (turbonetics) stage 4 clutch (cc) . at idle sometimes it chatters really loud. louder than normal clutch chatter. the grinding of gears bothers me even more. when i ease into first gear it grinds. when i get on it it grinds. what the hell?

lol...i have the same problem for about 6 months now. This is my second tranny (first one was replaced due to 5th gear grinding) now this one every time i shift into second at high RPMs it grinds and sometimes doesn't even go into second. But, for normal shifting or even around 5k to 6k it is fine. It only grinds when shifting close to redline.

also would like to add that he had a short shifter in there and i dont recommend that for these cars at all.

the throw in the shifter is so short already, i would never put one in. i have seen sooo many trannys messed up in this car due to that shifter.

Try this test to see if it is your synchronizers going bad (which is a warranty replacement):

At highway speeds, push the clutch peddle to the floor. Keep it there. Then move the shifter in and out of different gears. If you need to "grind" it into gear, you are a candidate for a tranny replacement.

Are you serious? What is your engine attached to the tranny with Bailing wire? JK I'm glad your problem went away but it had little to nothing to do with your ENGINE dampener. The other noise that the OP is hearing is most likely the Throw Out Bearing.
