Default Hose question for engine GURUs

I am looking to replace some OEM hoses with braided stainless steel ones. The one hose I am not sure about is the one that goes from the side of the upper plenum to into the side of the battery compartment. When I took it off to install the new hose, I noticed it has some sort of regluator in it. If you blow into it, the air will only travel one way. I have seen some engine bays that look like they have just standard hoses connect there. What is this hose/regulator for and what will happen if I use a non-regulated hose?

It would help if you could take a picture of the hose/regulator and post it?

I guess it is more of an internal valve than a regulator. There is only one hose where I described, but I will try to find a pic.

Among other things, that provides vaccuum for the brake booster. If you use a non regulated hose, you will lose that brake booster assit if you try and use the brakes immediately after hard acceleration. The valve in there is a check valve, and only lets pressure travel one way

that vacuum hose runs all the way behind the engine compartment and into the brake booster. Make sure you use a check valve on the line if you are going to be replacing it.

Call the dealer and ask for the brake booster check valve. It also might only be sold as the hose assembly......i am not sure about that.
