Default Nismo oil pump

I have a line on a Nismo oil pump, newly imported from Japan. I have the usual bolt-on mods (CAI, hi-flow cats with catback, cams & headers, and a Unichip piggyback). Would there be any real benefit to adding this mod? I did a search, and I didn't find anything that really spoke to this. Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

its to support engines that rev to 8500 rpm. Its just basically an RB26DETT Nismo pump rigged to work on VQ's. you dont need it. if you track the car spend the money on an oil cooler or a bigger radiator instead.

From years of building race motors, the other thing people don't understand is that raising oil pressure with a comp oil pump actually COSTS hoursepower. That's fine for a tweaked engine that has higher RPM and possibly G-loading in competition. You need that to finish a race, but why handicap yourself on the street?

Dave,

Thanks for the response back. I received a very similar answer earlier today on Zcar.com. That's why I tossed this out to the forums; learn before I buy.

Um, Johnny, I didn't think that I needed it. It came up, I asked around, I evidently don't need it, and now I'm not going to buy it.

Someday I'll figure our why some folks on these forums have no problem answering someone's question politely, and other people have to come across like complete jackholes.

Its because the premier members are Masters of all Z related knowledge and feel offended by your prying questions regarding simple modifications.

Agreed ---this was recently covered here---Money poorly spent. Oil pump design...Amer or Asian hasnt changed to much in 70 years. you have your Hi Flows and you have your Hi pressures but VQs need neither and Hi-Pressures tend to wash cylinders and Hi Pressures are mainly for motors that are worn due to clearance increases
