Do you notice a puff of smoke when you let of the throttle after a WOT run?

Yeah, that's why I asked.

It shouldn't do that even with test pipes. At least not with a good engine.
The smoke is a good indicator of the problem.

wait, the guys behind me only noticed the dust/smoke when I got ON the throttle...not when I get off it. they said its like a brown dust looking smoke...probably unburned hydrocarbons from the engine going rich when I get on it Id assume?

try using different oil...thicker, different brand, etc.

as for the next question "which should I use", anything from a name brand, anything different from what you're presently using. If using synthetic 5w30, try some 10w40 non synthetic, etc.

Hmmm. Brown or black smoke could be as simple as a rich A/F.

But white smoke, or even worse, blueish white smoke is vaporized motor oil.

Adam...could you share you bearing clearances and both top and
second ring end gap along with piston material (2816 or 4032).

yeah I know it...some idiot up at the gap in an old 911 was beatin the hell out of his car, blue smoke billowin out of the back lol. But yeah if it eats the mobil 1 full synthetic I'll shop around with some thicker synthetics and non-synths.
