Oil pressure guage 120+
ok so i have had my car for about 3 weeks now it is a 2005 touring 6-speed with 18,000 miles and the one thing that is making me weary is that the oil pressure gauge is consistently pegged full psi. The car drives fine, so im guessing it is the gauge that is broken? Any input?
That is probably normal. When you first start up the car, the oil pressure will be high and decrease after everything has warmed up. Also, the pressure will increase as you increase in speed and RPM's. There is nothing wrong with this.
If your pressure is constantly at 120+, even when you idle after the car has been warmed up, then you probably have too much oil. So check your levels and if that fails, just go have it checked out.

hmmmmmm
most of the time, this issue is due to a malfunction of the oil pressure sending unit. Its pegs out to 120 no matter what.

If its pegged at 120 then its likely the OPSU. Just changed it on someone else's Z and it works like a charm.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... its the oil pressure sending unit. This happened on mine a few months ago, put in a new unit and its good to go.
yeah this just happened to mine yesterday... at idle it is at 120 and while driving, it pegs past 120... car seems to be running fine. Could it be a sensor? Where can I buy a sending unit for a cheap price?
