Fastest 350Z Right Now?
By mid to late August I will have 75 shot of NOS, Procharger runing with bigger injectors, Different pistons and rods running a 8.5:1 compression ratio with the ECU flashed and probably 15 psi on the procharger. Possibly at 550 RWHP estimated.
15 PSI and a 75 shot?
Of "NOS?" I hope your not in front of me racing when the rear end blows etc and the metal flakes go into your gears and toast them and they have to close the lanes for clean up for an hour delay
Should of just bought a Z06 or a Viper!
I have seen stock Vipers and Z06's damn near hit 11's on stock tires! Keep us posted though because I am quite sure this setup would be "the fastest Z."

Now that's what I'm talking about. I was starting think this was a Mustang board or something. I saw you in Fontana a few weeks ago. The Z looked great on the track! How fast were you going on the NASCAR part of the track?

The trap speed on the other hand is a real impression of the actual HP. Even if you get a horrible launch, the trap speed won't lie. I used to run 14.1's in my Maxima at 107 mph with the supercharger. I would get 2.5 sec 60' times(please no laughing) from the wheelspin when the boost ramped up at 3500 rpms. I never went to more traction for fear of breaking the drivetrain. FWD and street tires is not a good combination. A lot of the Mustang and Camaros guys would laugh at how bad everyone beat me off the line, but they weren't laughing when I would walk them from a roll. So the trap isn't going to lie. Even if I put a good set of drag radials or slicks, my ET would probably improve at least half a second, but I would be very lucky if I could get even 1 more mph out of the trap. So everyone, get of the ET kick.
If your loaded weight with driver is 3600 lbs, plugging into the old NHRA formula that works out to only 423 HP(at the flywheel) or only about 368 RWHP. This is obviously no where near your HP claims. In fact, your not even as fast as a BPU Supra or a stock Z06. By comparison, a stock Z06 which puts out about 365 hp to the wheels runs a 116+ mph trap. If you were really putting out 570 hp(flywheel), you would be running 127 mph traps and obviously you are no where near that. Stop using the butt-dyno and put it on a real dyno. Then look at your jets. As far as being the fastest, Greddy put down 440 rwhp at 10 psi with their test car. Until you can beat that, you are not even close.
7250 rpm in 5th!?! Damn how fast is that? MPH
That's a great pic of your car you have come a long way and I know you have been very factual and open about what works and what doesn't.
Like when I considered porting and polishing my TB and you saved me money by showing me a pic of one you tried with no gains. Soooo that being said, what I really want to know is how you got around the rev limiter? Techno Square? I want to raise mine up to about 7k. I need a way to raise my rev limiter and adjust for different stats, tire pressure height and ratings I.E. Z rated 255mph top speed etc but TS doesn't seem to cater to highly modded cars (YET) like blown with plenum and different fuel pump etc. Any ideas for me?
Also in your travels on the circuit can you ask around for who may be close to finishing a TC for my car like say a 2800 stall?
I apreciate any help from you on these issues. Also did you ever try any different stats when racing like a 160 or 180 stat and if so was the car running any cooler (my car runs warm too warm for my taste. This is why I need something like Hypertech it even lets you adjust your fan speeds and thermostat settings!
Also Loren04G35,
Good post, but everybody has a different idea about the 1/4 mile ET. Some say you need a good 60' a "hook" to get your best time. Others think you need a good trap. I think it is a combination of track prep, temparatures, driving skills, launching/hooking and trap speed.
I did a 13.6 at 100mph because I had a good 60', I "hooked" with ET Streets and it was sub 2. Go figure.
I agree about the tires. Those on street tires at the track are not ever going to get thir best ET the car is capable of. Traction is a must.
I would have to go back and look at the data to see what we actually did MPH wise.
Not to bring up the whole technosquare battle agina but...that was the first race we worked with them and they made some good changes on our ecu.
When tracking/ road racing....one of the best assests is the rev limiter being raised. It has seemed that every track we had/ have been to....everything was a 2nd/3rd gear turn ot a 3rd/4th gear turn. The lower of the gears you would be having to up shift 3/4 of the way throught the turn. And now on most of the long striaghts you can hold a gear versus upshfting again right before the brake zone.
ANywho......tranny coolers and diff coolers are an absolute must for anyone tracking their car. The older style transmissions def cant take the heat....this was one of the main factors in the "grinding" that many people have been complaining about.
The stock diff def cannot take the heat. The viscous cupler is junk usally by the third or fourth lap at a track event. I have siad this time and time again but not to many people want to do it because it is money spent on something that isnt fun........
This car needs a transmission and diff cooler set up for anyone going to the track........being broke down with a locked diff isnt fun either. I would say the stock viscous diff will be well over 350 degrees on average summer temp day at the track if not higher. One of the things that we are working on a durning this break is getting a diff cooler set up. This would require drilling and tapping the diff housing though. I am going to try and run my street car witht aht bigger throttle body since it also has the Techno square ECU in it. Probably have to go to a dyno to see if it does make a dif..... who knows
