Tranny recall attempt

Tranny recall attempt
Ok, i have an 03 track and brought the car up to nissan to have them look at it real quick with the tranny issue. They said they felt it and that they would put in a request to have it fixed. We as Z owners of the 03 and some of the 04's know about this problem. I am looking for everyone who has had their tranny replaced by nissan, as well as those who have had problems with their trannies and dont beat the hell out of their cars to add your story to this thread. My hope is to make this an aware problem and be able to shut nissan out on people who dont beat on their car, as well as just want good customer service. If there is a place to make a difference with a problem in a situation like this, it is here where we all come together for the one common interest, and that being our Z's
-Thanks in advance to all that post your stories.

I havent had mine replaced, but I am considering getting it looked at. I have an '04 Touring and while I'm able to 'deal with' the issues the transmission is giving me, I really shouldnt have to. Everything else in the car is very solid and working great.. I do believe they should have some kind of recall, or at least allow those with '03s and '04s to replace their transmissions with minimal questions asked.
I dont know if that is what you were lookin for.. but its a start

I'm not sure if this is what you are asking, but the transmission in the 2003 350z is notorious for its problems. The main fault people report is grinding (a synchromesh failure)when shifting into certain gears (usually 3rd or 5th gear).
Members of my350z.com report that Nissan replaced the faulty transmission with a new on under the 5 Yr./60K drivetrain warranty. Nissan kindly replaced the transmission in my 2003 Performance model (I was grinding going to 5th gear).
A search in this section shows many threads and responses about this problem.

03 3rd gear grind
My 3rd gear just started grinding last week. I have 52K kilometres on my car, my warranty has expired. The transmission shop wants $700 for labor if the transmission is delivered to them out of the car - parts cost is on top of this? Any idea why there was not a recal or something to protect owners of what I am going through?
