Default Do Calif Z's have less power???

Hi,
Years ago Calfornia always had very stringent emission laws for cars. So people that were buying cars only bought Calif if they lived in Calif. Apparently due to all the smog stuff on the cars that are not required in other states the Calif cars were less powerful (slower).

Is this still true?

The reason I ask is I'm looking for a Z now but my area (Utah) doesn't have a very large selction of Z's. So I was thinking of looking in Calif.
Thanks

this used to be true, but now there are a few other states that follow similar smog laws and all the cars that nissan produces in the US are the same across the US
