Default burning oil but still normal compression?

My 04 g35 has been having oil consumption problems, but the compression tests come back fine and no oil is leaking out of the engine. What else can be causing the oil to burn. Is it possible for me to have normal compression and still burn oil? Its consuming almost 1qt every 1k miles....

You could try changing your PCV valve - it may be sucking out more oil during idle that it should be (PCV valves are supposed to pull less air at high vacuum unlike a standard check valve). It's a quick, cheap fix anyway.

Ring tension lowers under deceleration sucking oil into combustion chamber is the usual cause.

^ and a blocked/sticky PCV valve would make the situation worse. Ring seal is optimal with moderate vacuum in the crankcase.

My Z had the same issue but here is the kicker. I dove about 800 HIGHWAY miles and no problem with loss. With city driving I tend to see a some loss.

Driving style plays a part.

Mine was consuming about 1/4 ~ 1/3 qt per 1000 miles this summer. As soon as the weather started cooling off, I've noticed my consumption is way less now.
