Popping out of First Gear on Launch

Popping out of First Gear on Launch
So, took the car to the track tonight. About half of all my runs were ruined by the car popping out of first gear. Was able to get around it by slipping the clutch longer, but that of course killed my 60'. It would slip the tires a bit, and then pop out before I really got moving.
Anyway, any idea what would cause that? Was getting a bit of wheel hop. This was on street tires. VDC off. Maybe bad tranny/motor mounts? Any help appreciated!

It only did it on a couple launches, as I was letting the clutch pedal out very quickly (practically side stepping, but not quite). Theres no noticeable change, afterwards, still runs fine. Only seemed to do it at the track because of the higher ammount of traction.

Ok, you're way over there in Kansas. I frequently go to Mo-Kan dragway, which is just south of Pittsburgh, KS.
Was it popping out of gear whenever you would experience wheel hop?
Can you keep your hand on the shift **** to keep it from popping out?

I didn't try holding it into gear too hard. I did have my hand on on the shifter, but I wasn't like trying to muscle it or anything.

Hmmm, I've had some pretty bad wheel hop before, and my car has never came out of gear.
I'm going to let someone that has more experience with these transmissions chime in.
Perhaps you could try replacing the fluid in the tranny? It would give you a chance to examine the old fluid for metal shavings or anything that would indicate some internal failure.

Not sure how it is relevant to the issue I created the thread for, but...
Was only able to muster a 14.5 @ 100.
Excuses (lol):
Car is mostly stock (has a plenum spacer), and shitty tires. Was mostly out to get a baseline run, basically. Decent trap, but was cutting 2.3 60' foots (due to the aforementioned issue) and it was blowing the tires off going into 2nd (was having to let off). Also, my first time racing a RWD car (I have a lot of experience with AWD cars).

i have had a simmiliar issue with the gear poping out of first. First time i went to the drag strip after my first run i rev up to about idk 3k and launch and was loosing traction and kinda bouncing the rev a little and thats when it happend( i was like omg did i break somethitng )but after i did that run everything seems to be fine on the way to get back inline for the next run. Well thats when on my third run my clutch stuck to the ground and then thats when i really got scared. I ended up finding out the next day at the dealer that my clutch line wasnt capped all the way.
Im not shur if helps you any but when i read your thread i had the same thing and idk why things go wrong at the track but never on the streats??
