Default Anyone using Brian Crower Econ Rods?

Just curious if anyone has used Brian Crower Econ rods...

I have a set of eagles that I'm planning to use on my next engine build for my Maxima. This time forged internals and some head work.

From what I read about Brian Crower Econ rods, they are .005" shorter than OEM/Eagle rods. Would this make a big difference in compression?

And would you use BC econ rods over eagle?

Thanks

I InjectedPerformance used BC rods successfully to about 1200 whp and then they failed. Eagles are rated to 1500 whp but no one has ever tested them with anything near that whp to my knowledge. Hal@IP might chime in. If you're not looking into the 1000+ whp area then I think either would be fine. Otherwise Carillo or Pauter? GTM is a local sponsor and has some good looking options too.

eagle rods are rated to 650hp....i did see other websits stated as 850hp

i'm talking about the Brian Crower Econ rods...that are around $600-650 and change for the set. These BC Econ rods are rated 650hp as well but the length of these rods are .005" shorter than stock. I'm curious if anyone has ran with these rods and also how much would the compression be lowered using these.

Here's a link that i found on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brian...=p4506.c0.m245

my ideal pistons that i will be using are either wiseco 8.8:1 or arias 9:1 .02ob

I'm planning to get the fwd block to a machine shop and high speed balance the crank, crank magnafluxed and the journals micro-polished, bore out the cylinders.

Also will be using:
cosworth hg
arp main bolts
arp head studs
rev up oil pump

this is for my maxima with a vq35 swap...doing another build...not going into my Z yet...

thanks

Ask them for a part number. I just looked through the BC price guide and the term "econo" can not be found, and all of the rods (other than for 88mm crank) are 5.675" including Manley.

Here's the part# and description:

BC6229
CONNECTING RODS - bROD w/ARP2000 Fasteners (Nissan VQ35DE - 5.675")

Thanks

ok, those are just fine, and no concern about the rod length.

What are your power goals?

PS, I hate competing with ebay but message me if you are going to buy those rods - I can get you a better deal.

FWIW what are the length of the rods that come with the kit that includes the 88mm crank?

That is incorrect. For the VQ35DE, 6 cylinder application, they are rated to 1500 hp by Eagle.
