I posted this in the TUNING section and got no love, so I thought maybe it was getting missed.....

So in the last few weeks every time I take my car out I get a serious gas smell the entire time I'm in the car. After I park it in the garage I can come out hours later and still smell it. I'm running test pipes and I know people have complained about this in the past, but I've had them installed since April and have had not the slightest smell of fuel. It just started about 2 weeks ago and is STRONG! Could it be weather related? Maybe with it getting colder, something to do with my tune?

are you running an aftermarket fuel system or factory? I wouldnt think its the weather sounds like a leak to me. I had some leaky AN fittings when I was putting my fuel system together. They would weep just a lil bit but they smelled the whole shop up.

Seeing how you smell it in the car, first thing I would do is pop the glovie and check the top of my tank. Then go from there checking the entire system for leaks. You really dont want to watch your car burn to the ground

No, it's factory fuel system. I tried it doesn't seem to be coming from there, but thanks for the idea.

It not weather related. You have a leak somewhere. Now you get to chase it down. Fun, fun.

Damn....Is there any tall tell signs of a leak??? Other than fuel visibly leaking out? lol

I've had a leak from two spots. First, would be when I'm filling up and filling up past a certain point would cause gas to fall out of the tank. It sucked

Secondly, was from the top left side of the engine. I think it is called the fuel regulator, it is the multi-colored looking thing. The o-ring on that was bad, and it needed replacing. You could literally see fuel dripping from it, so go check that.

I had a 300zxtt, I bought used and had a terrible gas odor more noticable in the winter months. One day the car would not start, bought it in, injectors were clogged, blew out the lines and it fixed the problem. No gas smell as well. In time injectors fouled again, replaced injectors new, fixed problem.

I looked real good today and found no leaks. I'm going to check around the regulator again tomorrow, but I think it may be a injector leaking. I'll keep you all posted on what i find. Thanks
