with a "pop" sounds like a clutch pivot ball (depending on year).hard to tell from here though, take a look underneath at the clutch fork.

its an 04 and the brake/clutch fluid i keep puttin in is leaking,

my mechanic friend said to pour some in and pump the clutch and that should work but

im pumping it the fluid just keeps going past Min. and there is a little leak under the car.

so what does that say?

Well, you've obviously got a fluid leak.

The clutch system works off of that fluid.

Here's my take on what happened:

Your clutch pivot bolt broke. When that happens, there is nothing to hold the clutch fork inside the transmission. When the clutch pedal stuck to the floor, your instinct was to pry it back up and try pressing it again. By doing this, you are forcing more fluid into the slave, which is now over-extending and beginning to push the clutch fork out of the transmission.

As this happens, the rubber boot on the slave cylinder conveniently comes in contact with the sharp edge of the "skid" plate that surrounds it. The rubber boot is now torn, and that's where all of your clutch fluid is leaking from.

So, you now need that $8.60 bolt, as well as a slave cylinder, $40.00

Now, I could be completely wrong here, but the only way to find out is to get under your car, and see if you can wiggle the clutch fork around. You should almost be able to pull it right out of the tranny.

I originally thought pivot ball when I read this too but it may just be your line. You're going to have to find out where it's leaking from anyway so you may as well go over the line and slave cylinder first. Have a friend push on the clutch while you watch for leaks if you have to. As mentioned before if you pull out on the clutch fork and it moves you need to replace the pivot ball. Here's a link to an upgraded aftermarket version. The bad news is that if it's broke you'll have to drop the tranny to install it.

ok so it was the slave cylinder and something else forgot what the name was.

but my mechanic friend thats fixing the car says that something in the tranny is broken

now he has to Drop the tranny and its gettin towards christmas and money is getting

tight... so now on top of paying him just for parts i gotta add more cuz he needs to

drop the tranny. in thinkin this i barely bought my car maybe 3-4 months ago and

huntington beach ford assured me it was all good and we inspected it with our people.

shouldnt they pay for something they so called "checked". they are also suppose to pay

for a damage done by the previous owner and still havent. i dont know i could just be

mad and wanting some one to agree with me in this rage.. but thats what i think.

Not so fast, buddy. I called the pivot ball breaking, then taking out the slave cylinder.
