Default Weird noise when engine started

I didnt use my car for 7 days or so, and when i went to turn it on today, it made a really loud clicking noise. It sounded like it came from the pistons. The noise went away after i let it warm up for about 5 minutes, but it scared the %@%@ out of me when i first heard it. Does anyone know what that noise is and does anyone else who doesnt use their Z for a while get the same noise when they start their engine? I hope nothing is wrong..

I agree with the big red guy. If a car sits for a while the oil drains down into the oil pan. When you start it up it may make more noise until the oil gets fully circulated.

So nothings wrong with it? I also hear something that sounds like the fuel line, but its coming from somewhere in the back. It sounds like a high pitch noise. Whats up with my car!!!

hehe, its the fuel pump you're hearing in the back & yes, its normal. Nissan didn't use much sound deafening materials when making this car.

Your car is fine

I would guess you were hearing some very dry valves and lifters. Very thirsty. Your OK as long as you didnt try to rev it a bunch. Gravity works!

My Maxima used to do that if it sat for a week. It was a lack of oil in the cylinder head giving a little bit of valvetrain noise for a few seconds until oil pressure stayed up. Once I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic it never did it again.
