Default Port Polishing good or bad?

Ok I was watching Horsepower TV the other day and they were talking about that if the cylinder gets more air it will equal to more hp and imporved mpg and you would do that by getting the engines ports polished. Now I want to know if some one polishes their ports on their VQ engine would that helping in making more hp or not?

Port and polishing should be done using a flowbench to make certain what you are doing is actually increasing the c.f.m. of airflow otherwise you are just guessing. But yes, it can make a dramatic increase in the airflow through an engine which will relate to a h.p. gain. One thing to keep in mind is that there will be a limitaion to the increases due to port designs and the amount or wall thickness in the heads/intake that is available to be removed.

Port & Polish will ALWAYS be good.. if you have N.A., then you need to make sure all cylinders are getting similar cfm. If you have force induction, then the bigger the port, the better

Any drawbacks in doing this? How much would it cost to have a pro do it? This can be done with a bone stock 350?

Polishing may help, porting helps more but it maybe at the expense of low and mid-range torque. Got gears
