Default Potential tranny issue?

First off, I have researched all about the tranny issues especially w/ the earlier Z models. I currently have around 20,400 miles on my 03. Whenever i shift into 5th, it would sometimes slightly vibrate and also feels like there is a hindrance. This happens rarely but I have come across this several occasions. I have never launched the car and drive it pretty conservatively. Has anyone experienced this? Should I be concerned about this? Is this normal? Am I just freaking out?

Could be a bad synchy, or maybe the fluidy just needs to be changed. Does it happen just when the engy is cold?

Thats what mine did, and then started to grind going into 5th. Nothing major, but i still had warrenty and got a free trans. If your paying out of packet, wait till it goes out. That probably won't be for another 100k miles.

Well if its under warrenty , drive it a little more and get it replaced before the warrnety ends.

If it's an extended warranty through Nissan, at least take it in and start getting the issue documented. That way if you are out of warranty once it finally gets bad enough to need replacing (Which in my opinion it's ready now) then normally if you have a paper trail starting before your warranty is up, they will still take care of it.

If you have an aftermarket warranty company, i'd start pushing now to get it replaced.

hmm thats a good idea. yeh, its through Nissan by the way. I will call them up soon and ask them about that. thanks

i also checked the tranny model # some time ago and i'm positive it wasn't the latest version. i think it might be the second revision but i don't recall 100%...

yep, i second the reply about taking it in to get looked at. Use that warranty for all it's worth!

Mine grinded 3rd and was hard to get into 5th when they replaced it. If they say it's fine then you might try changing the trans fluid.
