Angry Scott Performance Camshafts

Has anyone heard of these cams? I just bought some off of a trusted buyer, but can seem to find any specs on them. No where online can I find these. Can anyone help?

Ummm, you bought them without knowing the specs? LOL.

You may want to have a mod move this to FI. Since Scotts went out of business years ago, you'd have to find a FI vet that's still on the boards. There have been posts on this though in that section.

You need to search for "Scotts Performance". Here are a few threads that came up:

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...nt-decide.html

https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...long-rant.html

Most folks do their research before spending their hard earned $$$! Good luck.

It's highly likely they are copies of a JWT cam. These were made after Greg Scott (a la Scott Performance) left the business and sold it to Terrible Ted T. Ted was a salesman with only $ on the mind. Greg Scott had a passion for Z cars - they are different people, Ted just bought the name.

I bought it from builtzmotors.com, I trust they're good, and he mentioned they are designed after JWT stg 1 cams. Also he rev limited at 7200 rpm when he had them installed. So I'm using this info and installing them, hope everything goes well.

What in the hell does the 7200 rev limit have to do with cams?

Do yourself a favor and return the cams now please.

I 'm building my block right now, just picked up a complete motor and starting a build. Obviously don't know what I'm doing, but just reading and trying to figure it out as I go.

Don't be a hater, I got the motor for 400 and the cams for 300 just a small investment do this, but overall I just like ripping sh*t apart and see how things work.

At $300, they might be a good deal, if they are "good" copies of the JWT S1 - those give a solid boost from 5500-6500 rpms.

Good luck, at $300 it might be worth the gamble.
But then again... you never know.

If you plan to boost the rev limiter consider some upgraded valve springs. Between valve float and the unknown lift it would just be "safer".

And have your machinist look at the head and block to confirm the clearences are sufficent.

yeah trhanks for the advice, I plan on completely over hauling this motor. Getting the valve springs, pistons, rods and whatever else necessary to keep this motor from blowing

Buy a set of dial indicators and measure them yourself. Hopefully you didn't get a set of stock cams.
