its all in how u shift it in the cold. you dont force it into gear if it doesnt want to. you let it catch. cant really explain it..more like you have to feel for it. once again this is only for the first 7 minutes of the car being cold.

i've had it in my tranny and pumpkin for 30k+ miles.

road race/drag evos use the same fluid.

Bingo, its all about being smooth. Ya its a little notchy in the morning but still slides into gear. Some people just really don't know how to drive a stick.

mine does not go smooth in the cold, especially if I try and ease it in there. When I try and ease into 2nd and let it "catch" its as if there is no synchro and the dog teeth grind terribly.

That usuallly happens after you force it into gear to many time. Kinda like a lot of drag racing and slamming it into gear.

pull out the teeth and put it under your pillow when you go to sleep. everything will work out fine.

I'm settled... Nissan OEM is going back in the tranny. Mine shifts OK, hot or cold. I'd rather keep it that way.

Anyone want to buy four quarts of Amsoil, let me know.

my 08 touring had occasional grinding in 2nd gear, only when cold but only occasional.

I recently switched to Redline MTL..and...WOW! Just wow. Although I didn't really had much shifting issues before, felt like a normal transmission. But immediately when I put Redline it, it's day and night! It's like my synchros are sliding on butter!

Maybe some of you guys use the wrong type of lube? Nissan transmission calls for GL-4, and will grind with GL-5. Gotta admit it dose get a little notchy in the morning but after warm up it gets a LITTLE better.. I’ve use redline and Amsoil both are great lube/oil but for Nissan transmission I would just go with OE oil…I have change back to OE fluid, and notchyness is very minimal in the winter time..if you track you car most of the time, then yeah change the fluids .. if you’re just going to use you car as a DD or occasional “street race” just use OE oil, there not that bad..but the choice is yours to make.. whichever fluids you feel better with..
