Default Upper Oil Pan Replacement - Different Generations?

I've had a crack in my current upper oil pan (2003 G35 Coupe) for a few years now that has progressively gotten worse.

Time for replacement.

I ordered a new Upper Oil Pan from InifintiPartsUSA and it arrived today.

However, when comparing a 2004 Pan (my buddy gave me one as a backup after his motor build) to this new one, I noticed differences that I hope someone experienced in this can ease my mind.

RRmedic and str8dum1, Im looking in your direction

On to the pictures.

So are these just different generations, and will it work the same?
When I ordered the part, I entered my VIN to make sure the part was correct, and this is what showed up.

I assume I have to move that 1 bolt, but what about the other passage thats blocked?

u have to buy that ball check valve separate. That cost me another week waiting for that. Move the other bolt over. and the rest is just latest model revisions.

Thats the correct part

THANK YOU

I called my dealership and was trying to describe it to the guy, he had 2 parts listed, one was 6 bucks, then other was 16 or something.

Must have been the more expensive one.

Does it just press in, can I tap it in with a brass drift or something?

k So I called the dealership back.

$14.43 PER SEAL-O RING. lol.
$16.59 for the check valve (or as Nissan likes to call it VALVE-OIL PRESSURE REGULATOR)
$2.80 for the GASKET-WATER TEMP SENSOR

The actual "bolt" or plug that I have to move over is no longer made according to them lol.

Yeah. I would simply spray some WD-40 on the old bolt/plug and transfer that over...but you already know. About the check valve. That's new to me. I replaced my upper oil pan many moons ago too and don't recall it coming without it. I'm sure it's there or I would have noticed it, just as you did.
I hope you can get that check valve installed and working properly.
Good Luck.

Thanks dude. I'll let you know how it goes...

I think I'll bring the pan the to the dealership tomorrow and see if they can press it in.

So I went to the dealer, picked up my parts, and brought my pan with me to see if they would be kind enough to press it in.

The crusty old man gave me a buncha attitude saying they would need a work order, I said it would be a 2 minute job...either way as usual I just took it upon myself which seems to be the best solution lately.

I froze the valve over night, then tapped it in with a brass drift and a hammer.

Removed the bolt from the other pan, cleaned it up, hit it with some thread sealant and installed it in the new pan.

So there you go, hopefully this thread is helpfull for someone down the line.
