how would you know if the starter sound fine if the car wont turn over for you to hear the starter????

with the little info available in op, i'd say dead/weak battery.

The battery is fine. The starter is turning over just fine but the engine itself isn't turning over. Its acting like it doesn't have gas, but she has a quarter tank

disconnect the crank angle and see if it starts. and is the engine actually turning over? or is it just not starting? you may have something bound up.

Sounds like you might have the the flywheel lined up wrong... Did this before myself, I new right away what I did... I was off on the dowel pin to flywheel location, took it apart reinstalled it in the right location and it fired right up... Just a thought although u might just have a bad sensor...

yes the battery is connected, thats how the starter is able to work fine. we marked the flywheel before we took it off and lined it up in the correct location, ill check the sensor today though. thanks for the help, any more ideas if this doesnt work?

Ya the fly is installed wrong! You gotta take the tranny out again and reinstall the fly properly.

"The starter is turning over just fine but the engine itself isn't turning over."

Do you mean: a) the starter motor is turning, but the crankshaft isn't turning?
b) the crankshaft is turning, but the engine won't fire?

I would guess the same as the others, flywheel misaligned. Here is JWT's sensor position check. It allows you to get an idea of whether you're installed correctly by checking the encoder positions. If they all check out look to the crank sensor. If it was banged around it could have been damaged and that is a crucial element in telling the ECU when to fire.

Also consider ACT could have delievered the wrong flywheel and thus wrong encoder, if changed.

Also, try a code reader. The problem may have triggered a code.

Flywheel has two possible ways to install. One for RWD (G/Z) and one for FWD(maxima) they have specific ways the line up with the Crank and sensor which controls timing. All you could have damaged or forget to connect that crank sensor which would do the same thing.

if you disconnect the sensor the car will start off the cam sensor and if its starts its either a bad sensor or flywheel in wrong. if it still doesnt start then............just take it out again.

They are probably right about the fly wheel installed at the wrong location as what you are describing is one of the symptoms......

after reviewing these pics, if you didnt ensure you lined up these pins, then you need to drop the tranny and ensure to install the fly correctly.

Look at these pics....
The back of the flywheel has an "indicator hole/mark" that is supposed to line up with the DOT that is shown in this pic at the 12-O-clock position - its in-between the Torx T-55 hole locations.

HELP ALSO!!!!
I started having a similar problem with my 03 track. The car ran fine last week.
Parked it in my driveway, went off for a week.
When I first tried to start, it sounded like the starter was not engaging.
After a short while on the charger, the starter turns over the motor normally but it will not fire.
The battery is brand new.The starter tumbles strong.
One person said I had to reprogram the keys.
The engine is stock with only intake mods. All fuses check out and there is fuel at the rail.
Mileage is 980 original.
