Default Dream Workes Heads?

I was hunting for more info on the new DW supercharger and I found this:

http://www.dreamworkes.com/350zz.ivnu

"The New 350Z Starts with some good power. Not enough for you Fast Drivers?
Let us show you how to blow away the competition!!!
Custom Dream Workes Heads -
Ported and High Polished on all intake and exhaust ports lets your new head flow a higher fuel/air mixture; combined with new
Dream Workes Camshafts and you achieved some huge power gains."

Can some of the My350z vendors try to dig up some info on the new head and camshafts? Is this just a ported and polished stock head or a new unit?

Thanks!

Here's an email reply from Dream Workes regarding the heads:

"Our heads are factory heads that are ported 40,000s of an inch and polished. They are still under testing. Price has not yet been set. The heads should be available in 60 days.

Thanks,

DREAM WORKES RACING "

I want to know about this heads and cam thing, too. It seems alittle fishy to me. They are working on heads/cam and blower at the same time?

Why would that be fishy? I'm sure they've got time to polish some heads in between waiting for the SC prototypes to come out of manufacturing. It's not like there is only one guy working there.

I do not care about how much material or how smooth the polish is. I need to see CFM before and after in intake and exhaust ports. .0040" seems like to little material removed to make any difference.

Read their webpage:

http://www.dreamworkes.com/about.ivnu

I think you will find they are making more than just a SC for the Z. Dream workes is preparing to offer a complete line of perfomance modifications for the 350Z.

As the web page says "With special attention to super car performance for both the New 350Z and Sentra SER Spec V
Dream Workes has developed performance parts available to the enthusiast that will enhance performance in areas of engine, drive train, suspension and braking.
Available parts include; performance heads, cams, computers, headers, cat back exhaust, clutches, ring/pinion gears, adjustable coil over shocks, lowering springs, strut braces, sway bars, carbon fiber front splitters, rear wing, high performance calipers, larger rotors and brake pads".

That is .04" I believe.

I know it does not seem like much, but I am sure there is some improvement.... Now, is it worth the money ($1500?), hmmm.

It's not about how much you remove, but where it's removed from. You don't want the intakes mirror finished and the flow bench should be used at all times.

Default 350z Heads

I just bought a pair ( retail ) from Nissan for $1200. & then had them port & polished for "mo" money! If I had known that the above were deliverable, $1500 would have been a good price.

I'm betting that you have to send them your own as a core, or maybe they are charging 1500 to port and polish your own and sned you them back? Dunno..

.04 is 4 one-hundreths, .004 is four one-thousanths and .0040 is forty-thousanths of an inch.

I believe jran was guessing on the $1500 price, as according to DW the price hasn't been set yet.

I'm curious about whether this is a core swap too. It would seem that the heads would be somewhat susceptible to abuse. Might get stripped spark plug threads, heat damage, etc.

Sounds like it will be a good bit more than $1200 if there is no core swap.

I emailed asking if there was a core swap. If they respond, I'll post their answer.

How much of a gain will this mod provide? Estimate the best you can if you dont have dyno's.

It was a guess, just based off what it costs to have a shop port and polish....

This is not of great importance, but in the semicon industry that I work in every engineer I know refers to 40 thousanths as .04 (or 4 one-hundreths as you pointed out), the third point is the thousanths, if you have 40 thousanths you move the 4 back a decimal place (second decimal point). .004 and .0040 are the same thing, any 0's at the end of a decimal are null.....

I also agree with Jesse though, the amount in not significant, it is where and how more than the amount removed that will effect flow.

One last thing, I guy in Houston ported and polished a Altima VQ35 head and stated that he gained 30 HP (there abouts I will double check the exact amount).

Edit, here is the thread....https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ltima+and+port
