On the INFO sheet I have it says $6200.00 MSRP.

But we would never dream of selling anything near MSRP. We do not have a dealer cost just yet so can not quote a price.

I hear you can purchase it now. But it is not shipping yet.

Jason will get you guys some more info on this system (as well as me). I talked to these people at the SEMA show and really liked what I saw. We will need much more info and dyno sheets as well as air/fuel charts before we get involved. BUT, they got my attention!!! Jeff

I've been looking forward to this kit for some time now, however it seems to be delayed, delayed, delayed. If you do some digging and assume that Dreamworks is the 3rd party contractor for Alpine Development you'll find that the first post about this thing was about a year ago. Also according to past posts the kit should've been done a couple of times now.

That said, this kit seems to offer just about everything I could want for my Z... any information on it would be greatly appreciated.

Jason:

Is performance Nissan going to be an seeler and installer? Will the warrranty be honored by Nissan on th motor through your dealer? If yes, when will you be doing these?

An issue appears to be pre detonation on the ATI at high RPM's. The Vortec supposely has its system design to retart the timing to prvernt this occuring on their kit. What precautions has the Dream Works Racing SST Aqua Cooled Super Charger System done to prevent this occuring?

I am in the process of talking with them about becoming a distributer / installer.

If all works out and we work things out how they say, we will be doing install's and honoring their warranty.

I have bragged about Performance Nissan and referred them to people on line. I am hoping that your prices and service of this product (SC) will lead the market as well. MSRP is not the Performance Nissan way of doing things.

Jason:

You skipped the part of my question regarding detonation. ATI guys are delaing with detonation problems at high RPM. Vortec is retarding the timing at higher rpms to reduce this issue. What does dreamworks plan on doing? You mentioned they have their own fuel management system, can you be more specific?

I know this is a detailed question but thise seems to be a issue with SC VQ's thus important. Maybe you can ask them this question since you are talking to them on the phone.

Thanks, Jeff

Sorry I didnt mean to do that

This super charger package includes its own fuel mangement system. SO I dont see that being a problem.

I dont know all of the info on this super charger yet. I am still finding out more and more.

I just got off the phone talking to Dream Works. I spoke to a guy named Andy. Here is a brief overview of the conversation (Note, I am just asking questions and typing down his replies thus not passing judgement on what he says/claims):

1. Status of being Carb Legal: He claims this is what is holding up the release. They want to release it being CARB legal with warranty, in othewords, a total package. He said thet feel they will get it within 45 days thus expecting to release the SC kit in 45 days.

2. How did you estimate the 400hp at crank? He said they purchased their own Z, tested it at 5.5 lbs boost and that is what it put out. I did not ask him how they converted it from rwhp to crank hp. He said at this point, they are going for 5.5 lbs boost but it is not set in stone and that is why they are "fuzzy" on hp claims. They are hoping for more than 400hp upon rleease but not sure if it will be more or not. He promised dyno posts once they got it were they plan to produce it at (Boost).

3. Who is actually backing the engine with a warranty, you, Nissan, or a 3rd party? The company that will insure the "drivetrain" is called Del Financial. Yes, he said drivetrain, not motor and it is based on you keeping the boost set at their specs.

4. Some other SC'ers being released might be having some issues related to tuning and lean conditions at high rpm thus detonation. What is different about your system that would prevent this from occuring? DW's SC has an ECU upgrade, dual aux. injectors etc, we are making sure their is enough fuel delivery and proper tuning at all rpm ranges.

5. I have heard of compamies like Vortec but not DW. Give me a brief history of who you are: We use to just build race cars but have branched into this market. We are only specializing in the 350Z and Spec SER Sentra right now. Oue attitude is to enter a small market, do a great job on releasing a product done correctly and build from there.

6. Does your SC allow for the strut to be kept? Good question. I know it was on at one point, off another. I am not sure. I will have to get back to you on if we were able to keep it on. I do know the factory hood is a keeper.

Well guys, that was my first contact. Andy told me the top guys were "in a meeting" and I might want to call again to get more information later. I did stress the importance of them keeping us updated and that we have a lot of question regarding the system, tuning of it, and fuel management. Hopefully, we will get more information as the time to release it becomes closer.

I hope this helps a little.

Not to nitpick, but it's Dream Workes, not Dream Works. And, yeah, I've already got wife approval to buy one of these babies since I have it on good authority that it fits in the G35 Sedan. Talk about the ultimate sleeper!!

Anyone care to define "drivetrain" in legal terms?

Great interview, Zland. Best post on this SC so far. I was leaning towards Vortec, but these guys have me VERY interested.
