Yes. 6 speed manual. Just need to know what the rpms are at 60mph in 5th gear (with the ring and pinion installed) if you could. Thanks

They may not know it is a 6 speed or for some reason want a 1:1 ratio for whatever they are doing. Either way, I think 60 would be right around 3K in fifth. I could def. be wrong. Maybe 3100. Hell, go drive it!

Oh sorry it should be around 3450 in fifth at 60 with the gears if stock is 3050 at 60 in fifth.

3.91*3100=12121
12121/3.53=3434

Most appreciated Dwnshift. This will help greatly in my cam selection process.

Yeah, the first guess is always the one to go with. That damn math just gets you thinking too much

Well my second guess was based of a stock gearing guess and that was wrong. Garbage in garbage out.

Gearing shifts the rpm range of your engine. Cams have an rpm range which they are best suited. So, I needed to know how much the gearing shifted that range. I plug all this into a dyno simulation program I have to select the best grind, given the VQ's bore, stroke, cfm, gearing etc.

But in an interstate cruise, it will cost you mpg cause the gearing will make the car run at a higher rpm.

All I was saying that while 6th is useless on the track, it is not useless to most people that own the car. Your gearing, with a taller 6th would be the perfect setup, and I would back that up by definitely buying that setup and I am sure I am not alone. Is it possible??
You are not alone. I have been wanting a shorter final drive, and a taller overdrive gear forever.

yeah but the cost of tearing down a tranny to replace a single gear.....you're getting into BIG buck territory.

This has obvious benefits, and only a minor tradeoff IMHO

What kind of difference will this make in say 1/4 mile times??Cause I know 1st and 2nd gear when your boosted are REALLY short as it is..

I have maintained from the beginning that I do not think this is a good mod for drag strip or a car that sees much highway. This will be no doubt good for the road course. But off the road course you are looking at more shifting, worse mileage, more wear and tear, etc. We will only know when it's tested. I think the Z has too short of gears already. I still want to swap out rears with an auto touring. Somebody help me!
