Default Stock Clutch + Aftermarket Flywheel?

This may be a dumb question. Can I use a stock 07 clutch with an aftermarket flywheel, such as JWT?? Would there be any potential problems?

Why not just change both at the same time only makes more sense

The best answer to your question at face value is...no, there will not be any problems. A brand new stock clutch mated to an aftermarket flywheel will be fine.

If one is used...that's a different story. If you are going through the trouble/expense of dropping the transmission, you should replace both at the same time, UNLESS, one is relatively new.

Honestly, we need more details as to why you're even asking this question....you hear that a lighter flywheel was the **** and you didn't want to replace your clutch due to cost reasons? Your flywheel somehow break? You piecing together a new engine and like the way the stock clutch feels but want a "better" flywheel? Help us out here. What is your intent?

I bought my car used and the previous owner had the transmission replaced under warranty (CD009 installed). He had the dealer install a light weight flywheel and a new OEM clutch and pressure plate. It works just fine.

I have the Stillen flywheel (~14 Lbs versus the stock ~26 Lbs), absolutely no chatter and smooth engagement. Other than the normal side effect of increase rattle noise at idle and low rpms from removing the stock dual mass flywheel you would not know it was installed.

Never mind. I thought this was important. Important enough to say “thanks” or simply reply.
